What is the consensus on who this drug helps? I'm only a few months in but seeing accelerated lumps and pain. Curve is still minor maybe 18 degrees? but I think it may be due to competing lumps on either side balancing it out. I don't know how to tell if plaques are calcified. I am assuming I am still in acute phase.

Is this drug mainly last-resort for people with severe curve?

My understanding is that this drug is for anyone who has developed plaques. I would say it is more of a 'first resort' approach as opposed to a 'last resort' approach. But again, it is not a sure fire cure. there is no data to show why some men respond to this and some men do not.

My doctor claimed that 1/3 had great results, 1/3 had okay results and 1/3 had no results. Based upon the guys that are reporting back to us on this board there seem to be far more positive results then negative results. If you are only a few months into the journey they might want you to give it more time because a small percentage of men seem to able to recover on their own for whatever reason. But checking in with a qualified physician with experience with Xiaflex would be an excellent idea in my opinion.

Good luck!

Injecting anything into the penis of a man who has Peyronies Disease carries the small risk of causing further scarring, according to the surgeon who has recommended me for the treatment. He did say however, that in an individual with progressive or debilitating Peyronies Disease that the benefits outweigh the risks from a statistical perspective. I think it's worth trying other therapies before resorting to xiaflex, such as moderate VED, low dose cialis and pentox.

If you wait then you have the risk of calcification. My plaque was calcified in 6 months.

If I post this in the wrong topic I apologize. Can Xiaflex be injected into plaques that are located on the underside of the penis. I have one plaque on the underside about an inch from the penis head causing a downward bend. When I had the VI injections they were able to inject the plaque but I am not sure if they can inject Xiaflex in this location as well.

Woodman -

Only your doctor can answer this question specifically for your condition. But in general, Xiaflex is contraindicated for ventral plaques. They don't want it eating a hole in your urethra.

Thanks Mending for the reply. If it isn't possable it sure will be a kick to the hope department. I haven't been to the Uro in a good while. I guess I will have to ask them if it's possable for me.
