Hi I am a 56 recently diagnosed since January and peyronies was atypical per local urologist. Plaque was growing faster than he liked and also said was more mass like than plaque and was now size of half dollar , curvature has worsened...Awaiting path report and made appt with MD at Memorial Slone Kettering ...Dr john Mulhall. Has anyone any experience with him or other NYS Peyronies mds

I don't think that fast growing plaque is unusual. Some forum members experienced fast growing also.
I am proposing you to read:

Regarding Dr. Mulhall and other doctors check the link bellow:

Rapid build up of plaque isn't terribly unusual. I had three lumps develop in the space of a week during the last acute phase I experienced, two the size of ball bearings and one the size of a kidney-bean. My uro wasn't concerned by the rapidity.

My Uro was concerned because it was feeling more "mass" like plaque like and had grown faster than typical peyronies. Started at 1cm in jan and now is 4 cm despite the pentox. I don't really find much about anyone having biopsy of peyronies. I have an appt with Dr Mulhall in NYC in oct. I debated on putting of bx till I saw him but didn't want to wait just in case was something else. I'm 3 hrs from NYC and won't be very convenient if have to do that drive for xiaflex injections . Local Uro only been here 1 year and said this is only 2nd case he has treated. He came from Virginia with large university setting and said he did verapamil injections there but of coarse not done the xiaflex. My wife oncology nurse and said we need to go out of town.

What do you mean "post biopsy?"

You say "I don't really find much about anyone having biopsy of peyronies." I'm not surprised. I've actually never heard of anyone having their Peyronie's biopsied. Ultrasound, yes. X-rays, yes.

But tissue samples? I think that's unusual at the least.

mr.bee

I had a deep tissue biopsy of penis on Friday . My uro wanted to make sure is was not a sarcoma of the penis because it was atypical in the sense of rapid growth and more mass like than plaque like. Sarcomas of penis are rare so in this case I hope for peyronies . I do not have path back yet.

UrsusMinor

Wow. Now that makes more sense.

That's the first time I've heard anyone hoping they have Peyronie's!

Hope the pathology reports come out well.

mr.bee

Well the biopsy was consistent with peyronies and no cancer!! 1 week post op and now with infection...this is not fun.

UrsusMinor

Yeah, it would be pretty stressful to get a tissue sample of plaque!

Infections in that part of the body are...well, 'not fun' is the understatement of all time!

(When I was 23 I had a vasectomy, and got a severe infection. An infection in the scrotal sac is something impressive to behold--the whole thing swelled up to something smaller than a soccer ball but larger than a softball. And turned slightly purple. There is nothing like having your balls weight ten pounds to make you understand how powerful gravity is.)

Get well! (And, if it's any consolation, I guess you got your wish.)

Infection is not fun, Peyronies also, but in my opinion much better than cancer :)
