Hello. I am a 53 year old male that developed Peyronies about a year ago. My Urologist said to "wait" one year to see what would happen. The only thing she told me to do was take vitamin E. I have a couple of questions and apologize upfront if these are answered here already.

1. Is it documented that beta blockers (Coreg in my case) can cause this disease?

2. I have seen a couple of posts that mention Testosterone. Is there a link there?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Darren, yeah lots of guys get told to 'wait and see' and it is completely wrong advice. Have a read of this thread here - Peyronies Survival Guide - Information for New Members - Peyronies Society Forums

The above will answer a lot of your questions.

Peyronie's is listed as a side effect on a few beta blockers, but I have not seen any studies on that particular point.

There is a lot of discussion about testosterone and relation to Peyronie's but no definitive evidence as yet.

Pentox, coq10 and acetyl carnitine, as soon as possible. Those are the first steps.

I was adding to skunkworks advice VED (carefully not to over-pump and after learning the subject) and daily low dose Cialis, 2.5 mg if you don't have ED, 5 mg if you have.
Regarding Testosterone, more for ED that Peyronies, you should be on the upper side of the scale.

Being advised to take Vitamin E and wait is a sign that your urologist is completely unfamiliar with treating Peyronie's.

Do what skunkworks and James suggest, and meanwhile find a new urologist who doesn't recommend discredited approaches.

I would add that low Testosterone has been linked to Peyronie's. If you're concerned that you may suffer from it, I would get it checked.

The best advice at this point is to find another Uro - one who specialises in treating this disease and knows what he's doing.

The best treatments, you can read about on this site.

Could you link to evidence of that please?

Thanks for the link Jonbinspain, I was not aware of low testosterone as a cause of Peyronies.

To me, it suggests that it's yet another possible contributing factor in the development of this disease. For guys my age, low T is always something to look out for. It seems that if you combine that with high blood sugar, hypertension, and Beta blockers, you quite possibly have created the perfect Peyronie's storm.
