Differing symptoms of Peyronies

So I've been wondering for some time whether the symptoms my penis exhibits are the same as other men suffering peyronies.

Just a quick background; I grew up with congenial curvature and had nesbitt done when I was 19, 5 years later my penis started bending again which I believe came from a jelqing injury from some time before. It is about a 35 degree bend left and down but looks twisted with a dent where it bends.

I don't have the pain usually associated with peyronies but whenever I touch my penis where it bends (especially when erect) it feels extra sensitive like nerve damage and when i stretch it there is a slight pain.

The thing which bothers me most is after sexual activity (mainly masturbation) my penis will shrink back to a flaccid state but the side that it bends will immediately drain of blood and the penis twists so the head faces 90 degrees left. While the right side still flows with blood.

The other thing which hugely affects my life is ever since I started having these problems my penis started dribbling after every time I urinate. It is a huge pain because I have to stand there for a good few minutes dabbing it with toilet paper before putting some tissue down there to soak it up. The urologists I've seen told me that the issue is not related to peyronies but it started almost exactly when my penis started bending.

Does anyone else experience these symptoms because I haven't seen this explained on any peyronies help board.

I often got contraction of the penis into a smaller, harder, bent configuration after ejaculation. I don't think 'flaccid' is the right word for it. It's probably what folks around here call 'hard flaccid.' And that, for me, is also associated with poor voiding of the bladder.

I never had any of that before the Peyronie's, so they are certainly associated in my mind!

My flaccid state has been greatly improved since I started VED, oral supplements, and took a vacation from ejaculation. Still, there are better days and worse days...

One place where we differ is that I have pain. Quite a lot of it!

Not every pone have pain, I never had.
The shrinking of your penis may be because of venous leakage. You must see an urologist to make you ultrasound with erected penis.
Dribbling after urinating may be or not connected to Peyronies. You must see an urologist because it can be completely different reason.

Yes I think 'smaller, harder, bent configuration after ejaculation' perfectly describes the problem and the bladder related issues certainly sound familiar. I am relieved to know you are noticing some improvements after VED. I was a bit skeptical at first but I will now be starting it soon.

James, I have seen a urologist for ultrasound and as far as the could tell there was no blood flow problems. Does venous leak affect the penis only after ejaculation or also when it's fully erect?

TT08--

You need to do some reading about 'hard flaccid.' I don't think it's a recognized medical condition, and it's a little controversial, but it's certainly a common complaint.

Here's a place to start: https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3476.0.html, but if you search on 'hard flaccid' on this forum, a ton of posts will pop up.

Some people believe it is related to Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS), which is also somewhat controversial. Be warned that you are opening Pandora's Box when you dig into these two topics. Hard flaccid is also widely discussed outside the Peyronie's community, so if you Google it you will find a wide range of discussions and opinions. (Many of those discussions and opinions seem to come from crackpots, by the way.)

Venous leakage is affecting erection. In many cases the erection will not be hard and sustainable.

I too have developed poor voiding of the bladder since developing peyronie's. I've had my prostate checked to exclude that as the cause. I've accepted it as 'just one of those things'. I do have urethral scarring (which occurred at the time of the onset of peyronie's) and a plaque pressing against the urethra, so that is most likely the cause.

TT08

Ursus, this is definitely symptomatic of what I have occasionally and I always think it can't be good for recovery. I would maybe say that to battle that it would be good to take supplements that increase blood flow, VED, exercise and hot wraps on the penis?

James, I can sustain erection, maybe not 100% all of the time, but this condition sounds much more serious than my problem. My penis only shrinks and becomes immediately disfigured after ejaculation.

Welshwales, This is exactly what afflicts me, I have the same theory as you. I believe that there is some scarring covering my urethra but I had a procedure where doctors pushed a small, tube camera into my urethra to see if there was a stricture. They said it was normal which is strange because I am almost convinced the poor voiding is my penis, and not a bladder problem. Sadly, there is no literature or studies I could find at all on this matter.

TT08:

Just want to input my 2 cents in on the problem of poor voiding of urine. There are many causes that can cause this, but are not limited to any one.

You say that you had a cystoscopy done of your urethra and/or bladder and the doctor found no apparent cause of any restriction. However, after that was done sometimes the urethra shrinks as a result of being ''disturbed'' with an object being pushed through it. So, that can and may be your problem.

Another problem that can cause poor voiding is a condition known as BPH or benign prostate hyperplasia. This condition is where the prostate gland is enlarged to a degree that it closes down the size of the urethra canal where it goes through the prostate. There are many reasons which condition occurs, but for talking purposes, this just happens as men grow older.

So, I strongly suggest that you get a thorough prostate/bladder check up with an urologist who is experienced in prostate and bladder diseases. This can be a uro who is also an experienced Peyronies Disease specialist as well.

IOW, you should get an official diagnosis of your problem, even if you have to locate a different doctor than the one who says you have no problems, etc.

TT08--Yes, I would say that's a good list of what to try for both hard flaccid and poor bladder voiding. I should add that it can sometimes be hard to tell the difference between poor voiding and false urgency. Both of those are symptoms of prostatitis and urinary-tract infections, as well as CPPS.

My urgency/voiding problems disappeared completely after VED, heat, and supplements.

I occasionally still get hard flaccid. Ejaculation seems to almost guarantee it. I'll be happy when I get done with that part of this disease.

Old Man is right that disturbing the urethra can cause constrictions. Ironically, this can turn into a never-ending cycle. I have a friend who is dealing with that right now. The urethra constricts, so they put in a catheter for a while. The catheter irritates the urethra further so when it is removed the urethra develops strictures. They put in a scope to find the strictures and that makes them close further. So they do surgery to open up the urethra, and then put in a catheter, which irritates the urethra. My friend has been dealing with this for nearly three years now, and the problems he has makes my Peyronie's seem like a minor inconvenience.

Hard flaccid is definitely related to pelvic muscles pulling the penis into the body, which is part of the normal process of getting an erection.  It seems though, that for some reason it happens a lot while flaccid to guys with peyronie's disease, especially after orgasm.  I don't know if it could be related to scar tissue or injury or not.  Perhaps the body senses something is wrong and pulls the penis back to protect it.  But this is complete speculation.

I have noticed more dribbling after urination since getting peyronie's disease and I think it's related to my increased pelvic muscle tension.  To pee one must relax their pelvic muscles.  If they are too tight the result can be weak flow or dribbling.

TT08

I agree with all posts below. I have done a fair bit of research on post urinary dribbling and it is very difficult to come to a suitable conclusion without seeing a urologist again. The reason I suspect it has something to do with peyronies is that all tests I have had associated with bladder and/or pelvic floor problems have come back normal. Also, I have no other symptoms of any other voiding issues I have read (only my peyronies symptoms).

Regarding the cystoscopy, I had no problems as some of you have described and now I'll know to avoid this in the future. There should have been more information on this from the doctor's I saw.

Ursus, it's great you've had improvement on that side of things, this gives me more encouragement starting VED. With the hard/flaccid issue I am learning now to be liberal with masturbation (someone here recommended once a week) and a lot more gentle.

The most recent test I have had was an MRI with an erect penis and I will see my uro for results in mid august, does anyone know what can be picked up with this machine?

I have exactly the same issue, reduced flow and dribbling after the fact. Have only had it since Peyronie's. I also get hard flaccid after ejaculation from masturbation, but not sex. It is weird in a way, I almost always have hard flaccid, it gets much worse after masturbation, but sex seems to get rid of it for 24 hours or so. To me that suggests muscular tension somewhere is to blame, but I have nothing to back that up.

This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

QuoteThe most recent test I have had was an MRI with an erect penis and I will see my uro for results in mid august, does anyone know what can be picked up with this machine?

I know! I had 3 of those (non-erect though). They didn't pick up any of the things clearly visible and palpable to the specialist. He actually told me he has done lots of experiments with Peyronies Disease patients of his. The result: MRI is practically useless. Even the strongest 4 tesla machine often didn't show plaque that was large, thick and obvious as day by mere touch. There are also studies about this that if I recall correctly MRI has only a 60% accuracy.

Ohh.. btw I have dribbling as well. Had it for years, long before Peyronies. In my case I had a cytoscopy when I was 6 which revealed a slightly constricted urethra... I care more about the Peyronies.. dribbling doesn't bother me.

I have urethral stricture too, at times I wonder if that's what causes all of my bending, a terrible thought.. Or a relief depending on how you look at it. Hopefully my ultrasound in September will help, but another cystoscopy also could be good.

I had an MRI done on my penis about 9 months after getting peyronie's disease.  It came back completely normal.  But that really just goes to show that it is of limited use to detect abnormalities because my penis is certainly nowhere near normal.  I'm not sure exactly what the MRI can pick up but one of the things my urologist used it for was to check my blood flow.  For this I had to have a dye injected into my bloodstream (it's actually harmless unless you happen to be allergic to the dye, which is not likely).  My blood flow came back normal.  This was only flaccid though.  I'm pretty sure I have some venous leakage when erect but I didn't want to test for it because I didn't want a needle in my already damaged penis.  I think the MRI probably can also detect scar tissue but I'm guessing only in cases where there are large amounts concentrated in one spot.

Another useless test they did in the hospital involved attaching two electrodes on my penis. One below the glans and one at the base. It involved sitting naked on a chair in front of a young, attractive female neurologist. Then she applied electric current to it (didn't hurt at all). I don't know what the heck that was for.. but it came back "normal" as well..
Thisis..: The blood flow test is called MR angiogram. I had that too.. had actually high hopes, but it also came back normal.

Wow, emasculated, here in California we have to pay serious money for that sort of thing, and there's no pretense that it's medical.

Was she wearing leather?

emasculated

Yeah.. usually that would be one of my fantasies too... Unfortunately, I was in severe pain and sex was really not on my mind. At the same time one of my MRI's was not only by a female radiologist but her entire staff was young attractive females! From the girl who injected the dye to the assistants. There were probably 5 or 6 hot nurses altogether while I was lying there naked and they fixated my penis etc.. But again.. way too much pain to enjoy the experience! Dang it!
I remember when I was 15 and in hospital with a knee injury I was basically _praying_ every morning one of the attractive teenage female nurses in training would wash me. But no.. it was a male nurse every time "so as to not embarrass me", yeah right. Being washed by a guy is way less awkward.... But let's not get too far off topic here. ;-)

Hey, I had an operation on my testicles once, and the nurse they sent in to shave me and prep me was not only a guy, but a guy I was taking a college class with.

That was an awkward conversation, chatting about Advanced Organic Chemistry while he shaved my junk....
