Hello, first, I would like to say THANK YOU to this group, it is very helpful. I ve been reading a lot and learning a lot.

I am 30 years old.
I live in Canada near Montreal.

I was diagnosed with Peyronies last week.

For the past 3 months, I noticed my penis was curbing at the base.
At first I though it was funny, but with every passing week I knew something was wrong.

I went to see my family doctor whom recommended a Urologist.

The Urologist I saw last week.

He diagnosed the Peyronies. The plaque is fairly big ( I can feel it easily at the base of my penis, on the left side, its feels about 1 to 1 1/2 cm, its very hard )

I was prescribed with 400 of Vitamin E once a day. After reading the forums, doesn't seem like it will help much ( althought my Urologist said Vitamin E probably wont help, he advised me to see a Specialist in Montreal, Dr. Serge Carrier, which I will schedule an appointment with tomorrow ).

I took down the measurements as advised ... My curve is 60 degrees left, at almost the very base of the penis.

My BPSFL is 9 Cm.
When erect I have almost 6 inch ( which maybe im paranoid but I recall measuring it when being a teenager and had almost 7 inch ... Im hoping not to loose to much, at least not at this paste ... )

My girth varies as the base is shrinking. Its now very apparent. My girth is 4 1/2 cm at top of my penis and 3 3/4 at the base.

I can still manage to have an erection, but sexual activity with my girlfriend is painful.

That's the only pain I feel however, its push it back, to straighten it to have penetration.

I figure since this whole adventure is only 2 to 3 month old I must still be in the Acute phase. Which brings me a bit of hope.

I am planning to see my family doctor in 2 days to run a complete blood test as per the forums advice.

Other the Peyronies, I am in perfect health.

At this point, im really looking for guideness.

I read about the Pentox and im sure to ask the doctor a lot of questions about it.

1 : I can afford a traction device or a VED, I was looking at Andropeyronie with google research but any advice anyone would offer would be greatly appreciated. I only work 3 days a week so I guess I could wear a device for multiple hours without much concern.

2 : I will look at buying L-Arginine although it seems expensive here ( around 1$ a pill, taking 2 a day would go fast, any recommendations as to where to look would be nice, I went to a Pharmacy ).

3 : Anyone knows of Serge Carrier as a Urologist working at Montreals Jewish hospital ?

4:  Anything really, If I forgot something, please share ... Im still young and Im determined to maximize my chances to recuperating my sex life.

FYI : Please apologize if I mistype words or wrongly express my sentences, my first language is French and although my English is good, its not the type of conversation I usually have in my 2nd language. Please take no offence.

Thank You vey much

Personally I do not think Arginine is a worthwhile investment. It`s down regulated by the body extremely quickly, not raising N.O levels beyond your first time taking it. The same from what I know, is true for Citrulline. I have taken both for long periods and experimented with their dosage and timing, they also may pose some dangers.

The good news is that since you are just beginning to treat this, you should get some improvement. VED, traction, pentox, and any kind of antioxidants, things that boost mitochondria health, and vein and artery health, is all very helpful. Even vitamin E is a good antioxidant and blood thinner.

Secondly, now that you are aware of this, you will start to make changes to your habits which may affect your Peyronie's.

Many of us, after learning about the disease, realize that we had been having sex or masturbating recklessly, or doing things that were harmful (in my case clenching my PC muscles extremely hard during sex that ultimately ruined my erections). Erections are important to have for penis health, but they have to be good erections. I spent years masturbating a less than hard dick, causing a lot of damage I believe. Now I am doing much better. Make sure you are careful and that your erections are fully filled out.

Peyronie's can make erections take a long time to fully inflate or fill out, and this makes the issue even more important. Treat your penis like any other injury, realize it needs to heal, and any activity has to be done very carefully if at all.

Getting an ultrasound with the specialist would definitely be a good idea. Hang in there man!

Hi, Marcus--

I'm new to the game, too.

Arginine shouldn't be all that expensive. In the US, health food stores carry it, and it's cheap. Also available from Amazon. But as Neo notes, the body adapts to it quickly. It's only really effective for penile blood flow if you take it very sporadically--say, once or twice a week.

All I can say about Vitamin E is that it probably won't hurt you.

Ubiquinol (200 mg twice daily) and Acetyl L- Carnitine (1 g twice daily) do have some scientific support and seem to have no risk. Both are health-food store items, or can be obtained online.

As to traction devices, I own both a traction device and a VED. I decided to only use one of them for the moment, as starting both traction and VED at once seemed like it might be overdoing it. Of the two, I settled on the VED as it is more comfortable, uses less time, and left me feeling better afterwards.

It appears that a lot of urologists aren't really up to speed on Peyronie's, so you may want to print out some of the references available on this forum and take them along to your appointment. A good doctor will appreciate this. A bad doctor will be offended. View it as a test for the doctor.

Good luck!

Firstly, re Arginine. I use Citrulline malate, myself. I do a lot of gym work and it certainly helps with that. If you are going to try either that, or Arginine, buy them in powder form. It's considerably cheaper. Both are easily dissolvable in water. I take every morning about 2-3 grams of Citrulline combined with 2-3 grams of Acetyl L Carnitine. I buy both in the UK in 1kg (2.2ibs) bags which cost about $50 each.

As Ursus has said, not every Urologist is up to speed on Peyronies. Even worse, some of them don't even seem to treat it very seriously. Arm yourself with as much info as possible - there's a wealth of it on this site. More than is possessed by 99% of urologists.  Ask questions, and if you're not happy, find another Uro.

A lot of gym rats (no offense, I used to be one) are into Citrulline malate, and the biochemistry that it last longer than arginine alone is pretty convincing. It also tastes about 1200% better than arginine--sort of like unsweetened lemonade.

I think it helps you get a pump. Whether it will do the same for Mr Happy is another matter. But either way, it sure isn't bad for you.

Amen, bro!

Thank you all much for the Feedback, of the 3 suggested vitamins, I found the CoQ10 for relatively cheap at Costco. The specialised Urologist should schedule me an appointment soon, so I guess im kinda on standby for now .... As for the other vitamins, I will look at cotrulline malate but im not a gym rat, more of a cardio guy ( i play hockey mostly twice a week but thats pretty much it, im far from muscle man :) ).         Anyone has any recommendations for a traction device ? It appears as the only other step I can take before the appointment other than the blood test. Thanks for all the info group :)

Did I miss something? Is there some reason you can only go with traction and not with VED?

Marcus01

Im just starting so I might be complety wrong, but with the angle of the curve ( 60 to
70 degree, and the fact its to the left of the base of the penis, im not sure I can actually make my penis fit in a pump without pain, let alone pumping it after.  Therefore I felt safer trying with a traction device ... I will keep you all posted but I bough the Andropeyronie, I read it can be uncomfortable but I will give it a try ... Also, im having my blood test on Tuesday 17 june, if results are Ok, my doctor will prescribe me Pentox until I can manage a rendez-vous with Dr. Serge Carrier, which is whom my Urologist suggested me.... I will keep u all posted on the devellopements and how Andropeyronies works out.

I'm surprised your Urologist hasn't put you on Trental yet.  I'm fortunate enough to have Dr Tom Lue at UCSF as my Urologist.  Some say he's the leading authority on Peyronie's.  My curve...actually in the end, it was bend not a curve...Was just shy of 90 degrees and downward.  Trental at 3 times a day did nothing for me.  When I saw Dr Lue, he upped it to 2 tablets 3 times a day...But work up to that over a course of a couple of weeks.  That alone reduced the curve to around 25 to 30 degrees.  I just had my first shots of Xiaflex on Friday and the next set is tomorrow.  Keep in mind that the higher dose of Trental can make you feel sick, but the results made it worthwhile!

Marcus01

Thanks for the response, thats a very positive story ! Hoping to achieve the same kind of results ! The reason I dont have my prescription yet for Trental is because my Urologist knew very few about Peyronies ( he admitted it at least ) so he prescribe Vitamin E and recommend I see a Specialist ( Dr. Steve Carrier, he is specialised in Canada in penile surgery. I havent seem
Him yet, still waiting on an appointment. I saw my family doctor Thursday and explained to him I had Peyronies. Showed him my pictures and asked about Trental. He verified on his part and ackniwledge it was apropriate and could help although its out of his expertise. He agreed to prescribe it to me although he asked for a blood test first to verify some data. Im
Hoping to have the prescription within 5 to 6 days. Keep fingers crossed ! Thanks for the inspiring story ... Brings hope ... Will read about xiaflex, never heard of it yet. Good Luck to You
