Iceman....yes, good idea.  It seems to work for a lot of people.  It just takes time.

How specifically does one use iodine to treat peyronies? As a supplement? Or applied externally?

Is there a writeup anywhere and any corresponding research?

anonpdacct..........You use a Pharmaceutical Grade DMSO with Iodine.  The Iodine should be either Nascent (expensive, because it's the best), or Lugol's Solution 5% or 2% Iodine.  It is best to use DMSO that is 70% DMSO and 30% Distilled Water.  These are used as a topical solution.  Read the posts at this website.  There is about 41 pages of people talking about their use of these solutions.  I would start using 75% DMSO and 25% Iodine.  But reading this website below will help give you more information, and Good Luck.

The Importance of Iodine

To add to my input about Iodine, read that web page about Idodine.  You will see that they list Peyronies as one of the uses of Iodine.

Just to add to my posts below about Iodine and DMSO, I do this twice a day.  I apply these in the morning and then in late afternoon.  Getting too much Iodine in your system can be unhealthy.  I read somewhere that if you feel like you overdosed on Iodine that taking 2.5 grams of vitamin C or eating chocolate will weaken the Idodine.

Just FYI

dplookin

I have been using the DMSO and Iodine for 7 days.  I have been putting it on the Indention on the side of my male part.  This is where there is a Major Bend.  The indention is definitely going away, although I still have the bend and a major shortening.  I also use a VED daily.  But, this short term results is promising.  One person said that it may take up to 7 months, but I'm not sure.  I guess it depends on the individual.

Just FYI

Thank you for the answers. Unfortunately I'm not open to using DMSO, so this protocol is not for me. If iodine had some proven efficacy as a supplement I would still be interested to hear about it. But DMSO is not a compound I'm willing to use in any fashion.

Thanks again, and best of luck with your treatment.

So Iceman, any results? I hear it can take a while.

But I am interested in this website and thread, though I do not yet have Peyronies and don't want it. But it appears I might be at higher risk for it since I have recently had a prostatectomy and have just started to inject for surgery caused ED.

There is an alternative guy out there named Jonathan V. Wright, MD. His website is called "Nutrition and Healing". I have followed him for a lot of years and have picked up several good tips from him, at least one of which kept me from shoulder surgery for 14 years now, plus several other good tips. Many of these tips most would call quackery no doubt, but what can I say, some of them have worked like a charm, for both myself and loved ones.

Anyway, he is big on a concoction known as SSKI ( Saturated Solution of Potassium Iodide) good for quite a variety of ailments. One of those things he claims success with is topical application, with or without DMSO, to various lumps, bumps, hemorrhoids(mixed with with flaxseed oil), keloid scars and of most interest to us: Peyronies. He says he has seen some good results in his practice, applying a few times daily over some months.

Since I have seen some unusual and natural approaches from this guy work like a charm more than once, if not always, I tend to listen to what he says. So I am very interested to see if any of you guys get any help at all from using iodine, although you may not be using SSKI. Good luck!

You are the first to mention him and his websites. Strange.
When tried s search for Peyronies, I got almost nothing.
To get more, need to be a member.
The sites are excellent marketing sites, made very well.
I am sure he is very reach by know.
I don't want to compare his treatments to snake oil, as I don't know what really they are.
He is not giving too much information about.

Hey there James1947,
Yes, you are correct, you do need to be a member to get more from the archives. I have been a subscriber for well over 10 years, ever since his suggestions for my shoulder worked out so well. But I'm certainly not suggesting that anyone else subscribe to his newsletter or anything like that. I just wanted to say I was interested in this thread about iodine for Peyronies, because this guy who I have gotten good info from in the past also recommended iodine, or rather SSKI specifically. So I was curious to see if any of the folks here ended up having any success with the iodine.

FWIW, here are some links I found related to Wright and SSKI/Peyronies that don't require a subscription:
The Wonders of Iodine
""Peyronie's disease occurs when the tissue along the shaft of the penis thickens, causing erections to become increasingly curved and even painful. Applying SSKI to the thickened tissue twice a day over several months can soften it considerably and eventually allow for more normal functioning.""

Iodide – One Mineral Can Help A Myriad Of Conditions From Atherosclerosis To "COPD" to Zits
""Dupuytren's contracture" and "Peyronie's disease" are two "fibrotic" conditions that can be helped considerably by SSKI. In Dupuytren's contracture, thickening (fibrosis) occurs along one of the tendons in the palm in the hand, pulling the related finger down towards the palm. As the problem progresses, the finger often can't be straightened any more.

In Peyronie's disease, a very similar thickening occurs along the shaft of the penis, making erections increasing "curved" and painful. In both cases, rubbing SSKI into the thickened tissue at least twice daily softens and lessens the fibrotic area over a period of several months, allowing for more normal function.

For these conditions, it's additionally helpful to take para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) 2 grams, three times daily, and to rub a mixture of Vitamin E and DMSO into the thickened areas, also. However, if "caught early", SSKI alone will often "do the job". (It's also advisable to have glucose-insulin tolerance test done, as there's an unusually high incidence of "insulin resistance" in people with Dupuytren's contracture or Peyronie's disease.

"Keloids" are abnormally thick scars, sometimes as much as an inch thick, that can form after injury. Although anyone can get a keloid, they're more common among blacks than other ethnic groups. Rubbing SSKI into a keloid at least twice daily will ultimately flatten them down to a "normal scar", but it can take many months to a year for particularly bad ones. The treatment goes faster if SSKI is mixed "50-50″ with DMSO."

I'm just throwing all of this out there for info related to the subject of this thread, I certainly do not know if any of it works or not.

BillNMS.......I have worked with Iodine, but was informed that I would need to use DMSO to make the Iodine do its work.  Well, after using this combination for awhile, I had to quit.  The DMSO caused too much damage to my skin etc.  If Iodine will work without the DMSO, I'm all for it.  Lugol's Solution 5% (Idodine) is suppose to be the best.  The 5% has been out of my budget, so I was using the Lugol's 2%.  I got no positive results from the combination of the Iodine and DMSO.  Just FYI..........dplookin

BillNMS..........To add to my last comment about the Iodine, you must be careful as to how much you put into your body each day.  I had some heart palpitations one day due to over use of the Iodine.  I have been told that eating Chocolate will help if a person over doses on the Iodine.  I think what caused this problem was that I was using the Iodine as a topical use and also taking 3 drops daily in water as an oral use.  FYI........dplookin

Simply sounds like a rendition of John Park's therapy.DMSO, Iodine and Vit E mixed in a topical solution. Did it for several months, but I was doing orals, Ved and traction, so I don't know which helped to arrest my curve. Now doing traction and VED only Regards Inkhorn

dplookin

inkhorn.......I can definitely understand not knowing which helped you.  We tend to try just about everything to solve the problem without knowing what is helping.  It is difficult to do just one thing for several months just to find out it isn't working.  It takes too long that way.

Right now, I'm just taking some oral stuff and using a VED.  And, due to my age, I'm getting frustrated because I know I don't have that much time left.  My mind says I'm only 35, but I'll be 68 this year.  I won't reach the age of the Old Man.

Well, good luck.  dplookin

Off topic, but come-on dplookin, we all have to be around here fro very long time (I will be 67 this year), also after we found solution to our Peyronies to help others, no?

So, Inkhorn, you say "so I don't know which helped to arrest my curve", but I guess that means that, whichever it was, something did help? Hopefully helped significantly?

Bill- I won't say it was a big change, but some help came. Initially I had a dorsal curve of about 45 to 55 degree, and a twist to the right about 25 to 30. The twist to the right went away, the dorsal curve was arrested and got no worse. I can't say for sure but if I had to guess, it was the traction and VED that helped me, not the orals or topical. DON'T DO IT!

I tried iodine and DMSO, and it made my peyronies worse than ever.

Then I stopped a little while, and did just iodine by itself. Big mistake, caused the same problems.

My dick felt raw, and it has never truly recovered. I wrote about it in the DMSO thread.

And it happened one day out of the blue. Seems like I was getting good erections, and my penis was healing. Then BOOM. 2-3 weeks of everyday use my penis goes very bad very quickly, and it has never truly recovered since. I'm sure I mention it in the DMSO thread.

I've also used DMSO MSM and PABA. And it became very bad. But iodine alone makes it very bad, so the common factor, DMSO, isn't just to blame.

BTW I'm checking my excel sheet. I did these DMSO treatments the whole month of September 2013 and stopped at the end. So it's been 8 months! And my penis has never been as bad as after I messed around with DMSO or iodine.

Both DMSO and topical Iodine are risky.  I think all around here should take note of muffslayer's warning.  I'm not sure how this whole thing got started, but it makes me a bit concerned.  I certainly hope that iceman is OK.  Topical iodine works by killing tissue.  A little bit of this can be useful in a well controlled situation, but it can easily get out of control, especially if combined with something like DMSO.  So please be careful with things like this!!!  - George

james1947

I suppose that the doctors/websites selling those Iodine treatment are getting reach.
Many desperate people out there.
We have forum members that tried and are warning about it.

OK then, sounds like there goes another possibility out the window. I have certainly never put either DMSO or iodine on my penis, as I don't have Peyronies Disease. But my wife and I and several friends have used DMSO alone for several years now PRN for various aches and pains like arthritic pains. It often helps a lot, and mostly we have zero problems from it. But occasionally, we can put it on a certain spot and it will get irritated, either tingling or itching or stinging or almost like a sunburn onetime. Other places no amount, even with frequent repeat doses, causes any irritation at all. When it does cause irritation, but we are really wanting to use it, we either dilute it further with water or I just dab water on the irritated spot and so far so good.

The only thing I have used DMSO/iodine(aka SSKI solution) on is fever blisters on my lips. Often speeds up healing and I have had no irritation at all. I dab on about a 50% mixture.

Muffslayer, thanks for the warning. I am curious: which iodine mixture did you use? SSKI or something else? Not that it would definitely make any difference. If I find myself needing to try this in the future, it will be with extreme caution!

George999

The TYPE of iodine DEFINITELY makes a difference.  I use iodine for small skin lesions, but NEVER the really strong stuff.  The best iodine for use on the skin is povidone iodine, BUT I would NEVER combine it with DMSO because it contains inert substances you would NOT going through your skin.  Povidone iodine is iodine in a slow release matrix, like a time release pill.  DMSO and iodine are both intrinsically high risk.  The problem with iodine is that it burns.  And that is not just a sensation, it actually destroys tissue.  The problem with DMSO is not so much the DMSO itself, but the fact that it can transport nasty substances through your skin which is there for the very purpose of keeping those substances out.  The use of SSKI has been thoroughly road tested by many and is probably less unsafe than other substances, but other than SSKI, I would be awfully cautious.  It is very important to have adequate respect for both of these substances!

Yes, I, myself, quit using the DMSO and Iodine.  Too many problems with it.  I keep trying everything I can, although getting No Improvement.  VED since last November without any change, etc.  But No More DMSO and Iodine.

Off topic but what about adding to the VED Pentox, Cialis and Ubiquinol?
