Hi. My name is Melissa. I am 41, from Michigan.  My husband, 40, just got back from his first urologist appointment for this. We first noticed the problem just over a month ago. My husband had bilateral hernia repair at the end of December, and when he was healed we tried to be intimate. That is when we noticed the problem, and the pain. The urologist diagnosed him with Peyronies Disease and wants to see him back in 6 weeks to see if any progress has been made. He didn't prescribe any treatment at this point.

Hi tjsgirl,

Welcome to the forum but sorry you and your husband have to be here. There is lots of information on the forum for both of you regarding treatments and options. Kudos to you for supporting your husband and getting good information on the disease!

You will be hearing from one of our moderators shortly about our women's only forum. They will grant you access to that area where you can find information from other women who have men in their lives dealing with this disease.

It is likely that your husband is in the early or "acute" stage of the disease, where there is inflammation causing pain. This is the best time to take certain medications like pentoxifylline  (trental) as well as low-dose Cialis or Viagra. These drugs can help reduce pain and reduce the growth of scar tissue, but they are not a cure. I suggest not waiting six weeks and instead try to get an appointment immediately with a doctor who will prescribe pentox. You can call his current urologist and ask if he's willing to prescribe pentox. Our resource library has articles on this medication, located here: Pentox - Dr. Lue Case Study / Levine mentions his use of Pentox - Peyronies Society Forums
You can print out the studies and show them to the urologist. Unfortunately, many urologists are not up to speed on the latest treatments of Peyronie's; it's up to the patient to do the legwork.

Feel free to browse the forum and ask any questions you may have. We welcome input or questions from both you and your husband.

Best regards,

HI tsgirl,  I have given you access to the Ladies Room.  Unfortunately a recent upgrade has disabled the part of registration which identifies new member's gender so it's hard to identify which ones are female.  The security of the Ladies Room is essential to be restricted to women only.  I am sorry that it has taken this long to identify your gender and thus give you access.  Hopefully the people behind the scenes in running the forum will have this addressed soon so that other new female members can be identified timely and given appropriate rights to enter this area.  Please feel free to read what has been shared and I will keep you and yours in prayer for answers and peace in your fight of this terrible condition.  Above all, please do your best to keep the lines of communication open as you work through the issues.  That will be your greatest weapon and tool to get to the other side of this.

Blessings,  Christine
May the Lord Bless you  :)
