Going to Dr. Gelbard in burbank to try xiaflex.  I'm scared as I imagine anyone would be, but I made the trip from the east coast bc this affliction has taken over my life and if I'm going to be treated I prefer it be by him. Ill post results when I have them. Glad I'm here... Relatively speaking.

Good luck and let us know how things work out.  I recently started going to Dr. Gelbard and have a good impression of him, but I'm eager to hear any reports from his other patients.  Wishing you a great outcome!

What is the reason to open this topic on "Women Speak Out about Peyronies Disease" board?
How Xiaflex and Dr. Gelbard are connected to this board?
Annoying to deal with such things!!!

Wow. Sorry, I didn't know I was on the wrong board. I really apologize. I was just reading and posted. I didn't mean to frustrate anyone and I apologize.

When will you be treated?  My doc still doesnt have the drug.

Gap

Not sure. Apparently it's all a matter of how long it takes to clear insurance. I know the company has the drug, but because of cost it's done on a patient by patient basis. I'll let you know!

I'm waiting in Dr. Gelbard's Xiaflex treatment line myself and have been for some time. Shined everything else after a several meetings, tests and and consultations with him (I live about 45 minutes from his office). Cholrys caused too many side effects and he feels that if I were to develop calcification it would have happened by now. Only taking Pentox 1 every day or 2.

I filled out the insurance request forms for Antem/Blue Cross about a month ago after drug approval. When I called last week I was told that there is only 1 adjustor working on all requests for this and other treatments (some not peyronies) and thus there is a back log. Was also told injections w/o insurance could be $5K each. Ouch!!

May have to create some urgency that seems to be related to try and expedite process. Curvature has ceased, but member receding into pelvic area. Many times causing problems urinating without spray and discomfort. May be the angle I need to get approved for Xiaflex by insurance. I'm sure co-pay will be significant. Can still function to a degree, but nothing like before and find myself shying away from finding new partners. Am applying a testosterone cream daily to inner thighs which has increased libido and raise level.

Supposedly Xiaflex will break down existing scar tissue and promote regenerative tunica growth allowing normal straight rigid erections w/o ED meds. However there could be a loss of length in some cases. I'd be happy at 80% of what I was before I contracted this. Will not work though if already calcified. Good luck and please post updates. And GAP, if I were you I'd be on the phone as often as possible pushing the insurance issue.
