30, stable Peyronies Disease, a bit paralyzed by information overload

Hi guys, I'm 30 and recently had an awful experience kick me in the ass hard enough to want to tackle this problem. I haven't been diagnosed with Peyronies Disease--a urologist very briefly felt the area and told me he didn't feel any plaque--but for more than five years I have had hourglass-shaped erections and feel pressure around that area when I'm first getting it up. Everything looks *exactly* like the pictures of Peyronies I've seen, complete with a slight curve. And the base of the penis is much firmer than the end of the penis until I'm very hard, at which point the hourglass disappears. I can get hard with enough stimulation, but it's difficult and very easy to lose the erection. I had no idea Peyronie's was even a thing until I ran into another guy describing his hourglass-shaped erections on an ED forum a while back.

This recently killed a really promising thing with a girl I liked, and it's caused trouble in the past. I want to take action. Because the problem is still manageable if I can ever find a woman patient enough, though, I want to be conservative. I'm lucky not to have too much curvature, and I'm not concerned about my size, so the real thing I'm after is to improve sexual function: that is, to strengthen my erections.

I hope it's okay if I just blast off a few quick questions here--the rules didn't seem to preclude it--but I'm happy to repost these questions individually in more specific forums if that's more appropriate.

1. Has anyone here improved after such a long time?
2. The only study I saw on VEDs, the favored treatment around here, didn't include men with erectile dysfunction or hourglass-shaped erections. I noticed some men on here saying they had improved hourglass-shaped erections, but so far I have been unable to find a single person saying that the VED improved their sexual function. Can it do so?
3. Has anyone tried the manual stretching or drugs being sold at Alternate Large Plan – with Neprinol & Handbook - Peyronie's Disease and Curved Penis Information | Peyronie's Disease and Curved Penis Information ? Most people here seem to recommend Coq10, which isn't included, and it includes a lot of other things people seem less excited about, like Vitamin E. I was going to just buy it and start it, but it all costs a fortune and some of the drugs seem like they could be harmful in excess.

I apologize for jumping right in and asking a million questions. I've been reading about this for days and want to get out of the research phase and into the action phase as quickly as I can. Thanks for any help you folks can provide!

Firstly, find another Urologist. A cursory " feel" will not always detect the problem. It needs a proper scan. You need to know what you are dealing with before you can make a plan of action.

From what you've described, it sounds like it could well be Peyronies. E.D. Can have numerous causes. In peyronies cases, they can include, insufficient blood flow ( caused by plaque formation) loss of sensation - again the plaque, mental issues, to name the main ones.

Obviously, Cialis, or a similar drug will solve most e,d, problems. You should also, assuming you have Peyronies, ask for a prescription for Pentox. Consider also, ALC, Arginine or Citruline Malate.

But, my primary advice would be to know for sure your enemy before you begin the battle.

Go to my blog there is a before and after picture of a single young man of 2 with peyronies with hour glassing.

Find another doctor, a Male Sexual Function Specialist not a general practice urologist.

You say you want a firmer erection. Have you tried daily Cialis or one of the others? If so how well do they work. Google the Sexual Health Inventory for Men and see how you score.

Getting a proper diagnosis by one of the great peyronies doctors will start you on the road to recovery and a active sex life.

fair enough. It looks like I'll have to suck it up and possibly take a vacation day, even though those are pretty scarce resources. I've posted again asking for help with doctors here:

I have not seen any reports on the local doctor you mention. If you are closer to DFW Dr. Price has a good reputation with peyronies but I don't know about hourglassing. Hourglasssing takes a special skill that most doctors do not have. Many doctors just try to treat hourglassing with one of the implants that does not expand in both length and girth.

The best doctor in the world for peyronies with hourglassing and ED is Dr. Douglas Milam at Vanderbilt in Nashville TN.  There are before and after pictures of a single 24 year old young man on my blog. He is still single and leads a very active sex life, many happy girl friends.

I know you hate to use scarce resources. For the best outcome use the best doctors. You will be glad you did.

Thanks for the information, jackp. Does Milam ever prescribe VED devices, Pentox, or any of the other things folks here have been mentioning? I'd like to give some of those things a go before I opt for an implant. It looks like he's a urologist, so he'd also be able to rule out other causes of ED I suppose.

Yes Dr. Milam does prescribe the VED. I don't know about pentox. He is very good at ruling out the causes of ED.  Your regular doctor can prescribe a VED for ED. Medicare and insurance companies will not cover it for peyronies, be sure the prescription is for ED. Dr. Milam told me the VED exercise I used helped my outcome.  There are other studies showing the benefit of the VED exercise. One is posted in my blog.

I would suggest you start the VED protocol ASAP. It is slow but it does work. The first time use a felt pen to mark your erection and then every couple of weeks to see your progress. I gained over 3/4" of my loss the first 6 months. I have posted the single cylinder exercise I used in the VED section.  Any questions I will be happy to answer either here, a PM or email.

By all means try some of the other things before you opt for an implant, I did. Then when they don't work the implant is there and will change your life. :) ;) :D ;D :o 8) ::) :P :P

Hello. I have three very important questions and I need help. I was diagnosed with Peyronies disease in July of 2012. I am now 14 months into the illness and it seems to be slowing down and not progressing. My real concern is over the obvious loss of size (length). My physician (Dr. Mulhall) wanted me to wait and see if anything significant happened in the course of a year. So far I have only a very slight bend (10 degrees). The only major deformity is the loss of length. My question is this, is it too late to discuss treatment with Pentox since 14 months has passed without any treatment what-so-ever? Does Pentox need to be taken right away at the onset of the illness? Also, has anybody noticed regain in length while on Pentox? Thanks!

I do not think it is too late.  There are some studies that show it may help even if the plaque is calcified.  See study below.
