i am going to the Dr on Friday but all I have read leads me to believe that I do indeed have Petronies. Is there anything I should tell him or any info I need to know? I have done alot of research so far. I noticed a knot or lump about 6-8 months ago on my penis and then noticed I was begining to have a slight curve that has progressivley gotten worse. Not happy about this at all. I am 47 and have been married 29 years.

Print out the studies on Pentox in the resources section and take it to the doctor with. Ask for a prescription for Pentox, also known as trental. This drug has been proven effective in helping ease some symptoms of this disease, such as pain and reducing the size of nodules. If the doctor resists, find a doctor who will prescribe it.

Also, go through and re-read the "read this first" post and jot down any questions you have for the doctor. The "read this first" post goes over some basics you might want to discuss.

Good luck,

I ment the link for Must Read First.  It has the links to the 4 Pentox studies in that post.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post....but I went to the Urologist today and he confirmed Peyronies. Refused to give me any prescriptions, old me take Vitamin E. and refered me to Dr Allen Morey in Dallas for SURGERY. Says meds don't work and I need surgery...Very upset that in 15 mins with this quack this is all I got!

Your uro answer is frustrating indeed. You must to find a competent Peyronies expert as surgery is the last and not the first treatment.
Check out by the internet regarding Dr. Morey. You may also try to find a specialist in your area known to the forum at:

gunner66,

That Uro was worthless. There are oral medications like pentoxyfylline that can be beneficial. I suggest going to a specialist sexual health urologist and ask them for a prescription for Pentox. You can print out studies on pentox here and show them to the Uro if they are reluctant to prescribe it: Pentox - Dr. Lue Case Study / Levine mentions his use of Pentox - Peyronies Society Forums

To be sure, in cases of erectile dysfunction that won't respond to oral meds like Viagra or curvature so severe that sex is impossible, surgery is an option. The last resort is a penile implant, which some people here have had and are satisfied with. Please read through the forum to get more information. Good luck!

gunner66,

You will find way too many posts here about bad responses from urologists. They know very little about Peyronies and simply don't specialize in this area. My suggestion would be to do some research in you area and find a new doctor. They are here to serve us, not the other way around.

I took the print outs of Pentox and to be honest the guy was pretty much a jerk....Refused to even listen to me and I have to pay for the appointment! Very frustrating.  I am going to look at Dr Morey...Not too much of a fan on surgery. This Urologist also told me that the "cause" of my Peyronies is..get this....too mush use over the years? Never herd of that one. SMH
