Hello out there...

Any support on how to get to a healthier place emotionally and physically would be apprecaited...

Age?
- I am 44 years old.

What did your medical doctor conclude?
- I have seen a urologist and a men's health center.
- I have venous leak caused by Peyronies Disease.
- I have had a few ultrasounds to measure blood flow in/out...  Initial readings showed moderate leakage.  As things resolved a little, my penis started to curve to the left.  Blood flow out on my right side reduced but was still low on my left side...  The last ultrasounds showed even mild leakage out on both sides.  I am left with weakened erections and some curvature of the penis.

How long have you had symptoms?
- I think I had some syptoms in my late 30's...
- However, around 18 months ago, I started to not be able to maintain my erection.  And, I went to a urologist...

What are your symptoms?
- When my penis is partially erect, my penis curves to the left.
- When my penis is hard, my penis limps a little to the left and twists
- I do not get nearly as strong erections as I used too...
   - For some reason, I can get erections at night.  However, I cannot maintain my erection in the morning.
- I have some steady slight pain when my penis is not erect.  I do not have much pain when erect - go figure.
- Initially, I would often loose my erection.
- I cannot tell where the Peyronies Disease scar is but my UR says it is definitely there
   - How can the doctor conclusively identify the Peyronies Disease scar?

What treatments have you tried and what were the results?
- My urologist has me doing the following:
     - daily dose Cialis.  He feels this is an off label treatment that has worked for other patients.
     - penis stretches 3x a day
     - massage Peyronies Disease scar are 3x a day
     - On my own, I have taken Vitamine 4, Coenzym Q10, and Omega 3 fatty acids
     - Please provide any suggestions on the above...

Do you have insurance or means to get treatment?
- I have medical insurance...

where are you in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease?
- I see a regular counselor but I still find myself very anxious and depressed.
- I know there are a lot of folks out there with worse situations but I am having a hard time accepting this...

Are you in a relationship?
- The tough thing is that this thing showed up 6 months after my x-wife abruptly left me.  My
self esteem was already in a tough place and then this happened.
- The good news is that I am in a relationship with a wonderful lady.  But, between the diviroce and Peyronies Disease, I am having a hard time keeping it together.  I mean it is hard enough getting over a divorce and all the pain and trust issues that causes.  Now, I have Peyronies Disease...  I mean I have a hard time being vulnerable after what my x-wife did to me.  Now, I am terrified of being vulnerable again.  At the same time, I feel completely vulnerable...
- I just want to get to a better place to be there for myself, my children, and my girl friend..

Some days, I feel hopeless especially if I loose my erection...  Any phyisical and emotional support on how to learn to live with this condition would be appreciated.

Thanks,

CTS

CTS,

First I want to welcome you to the forum and commend you on actually reading a little before you posted.  You followed the format so efficiently that you already impressed me with your competence, and I am serious.

Stress, while not a cause, can be a trigger for Peyronies Disease.  Try to unstress.  I know it is far easier to say than do.  Medically you should likely be on Pentox because that is as likely to have a positive benefit as all the supplements combined.

Psychologically, you are building a life.  You have taken the first steps of diagnosis, took the initiative to find the forum and make an intelligent first post.  You have found a friend of the opposite sex, you are concerned and make your children a priority.  That is a hell of a lot to say good about a man.  I heard a song writer talk about his maturing and he said when he was young all his songs were "baby bay I just can't live without you" and now I realize yes I can!  He said his songs now are more on the line of, " I really love you and wish you would stay but let me know so I can get on with my life". He said it is a little harder to rhyme but it speaks to reality. It also goes along with a statement by a councilor that said we have to be a whole, happy, person and bring that to a mature healthy relationship.  We can not expect a relationship to make us whole and healthy.

I reget you are here but I am glad you found us for your sake and for ours.  You will be fine.  You have everything you need for a successful relationship with a companion and to be a great parent, just don't give up the fight because it is always a struggle for EVERYONE.  Those that succeed keep on going in spite of the bumps.
