VED experts!
« on: December 27, 2012, 01:53:06 AM »

Hi VED users!

I've owned a Vitality 3 cyl VED for about 3 years that won't work currently and was hoping there was some info here about troubleshooting the pump?

I've not used it recently since I participated in a Xiaflex trial and it wasn't allowed. I finished the trial this past March and recently wanted to get back to the VED.

It's not currently creating much of a vacuum and won't hold what vacuum it does create. I don't sense or hear any air leakage around the rubber seals at all. Don't see any clogs either.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Maybe not enough lubricant or to much hairs?

By the way, why you need VED after the Xiaflex treatment?

Try creating a seal on a flat surface with a little bit of lube.

If it can hold a good seal in this manner it must be the way it is interfacing with your body.

If not, the problem is likely internal to the pump.

LOL no prob James, glad to answer.

Firstly I had about a 15 degree improvement with the drug and as far as I can tell, I've not regressed. But I did have a nasty cycle during the trial where I had a bit of excessive swelling which created ultimately (after healing) an indention that I didn't have before. It's smallish and doesn't destabilize anything angle-wise, but is there none the less.

Secondly, I do remember using the VED and it improving my overall health, penis-wise before the trial. I do remember gaining a bit and getting rid of the turtle head effect, etc. I can also remember it improved my urine stream as well.

When you couple those things with being mid-fifties and less sexually active, I didn't want to lose what i've gained through the trial and the previous VED work. As soon as I get the issue straightened out with the pump, I plan to go through another VED protocol. I'm really interested if there's room for more improvement, that's it in a nutshell.

I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you might have as well.

@goodluck, the lack of vacuum isn't related to hair, etc. I check the vacuum/suction by putting it on the side of my face :) and it does the same thing.

and before I get blasted on my 'gaining a bit' comment, the gain was anecdotal, not measured. The gain I noticed was mostly in the flaccid state, but I do know as a result of working out with the VED, my stretch in the tube got much better as I went on. Whether or not that translated into erect measurable length, I couldn't say.

At the very least I'd compare the VED work to a fitness regimen, and my experience with it was good overall.

Thank you for the answers. :)
Your answers are important because so many on the forum waiting for the Xiaflex.
They (not me as my plaques are calcified) can get a better picture from someone that participated in the trial.

BSS ,

Sounds like you narrowed down the problem to the device.

If you are handy you may be able to take it apart, clean it and see if you can figue out the root cause in more detail.  It may be something simple like a worn o ring or loose screw.  Considering the cost of a new one it is worth a try.

No prob james, and thanks goodluck. I think I'll keep my cylinders and just order a new manual pump.

James, looking back on it, I think it would be better for the injecting doctor to use ultrasound while injecting, or use whatever the dye/xray instrument is. Maybe the same method by orthos when injecting steroids near the spine?
Anything to give a more exact injection is what I'd suggest. I got the feeling that sometimes it was a crapshoot for the doctor.

This may belong on the xiaflex thread, but thought I'd share.

well I got my VED back out and looked closer at it and think I found the problem. Seems I needed to be wearing my reading glasses to see two small cracks in the large tube where it screws on to the pump. Had no idea the cracks were there until I had my eyes on! Guess I'll be ordering the large cylinder.

Thanks for the input!

BSSS

Before ordering a new cylinder, try to find a glue that will fill the cracks. Some stores will advise you what to use.
I have done it for my own cylinder using a glue called PVC bond. Have to apply very little bit because is dissolving the plastic (not all plastics).

 :)

sorry James you're a little late! I found a really good deal (or at least I hope so) on a battery operated Vitality OTC  (auto) VED. It comes with the standard 8 x 2.25 cylinder that I need and I'll have the option of using either pump. Found it for about $85 US shipped, and the lowest I could find the cylinder alone was about $65. Figured why not?

But I will also try the glue as well, thanks for the tip!
