OK  New Peyronies sufferer here: Age 52,  wt 194, no other med conditions.

Really feeling bad that all my life I've worn briefs and now find that the normal nightly nocturnal erections have been blunted by the nature of briefs and that may have been partially the cause.  OK...Gotta go buy boxers!

Just got 2nd disgnosis and ultrasound showing 3 plaque areas. (Was on 400 Mg 3x daily of Trental (pentoxifylline) for 60 days - No effect.)   SO,... new Dr. is upping that gradually to 800 mg 3x/day and prescribing Vacuum Pump therapy... Needs to be 1/2 hr per day (or more) every day for 4 months before any improvement will be noticed.  Fortunately, I've had symptoms for only a few months and so may be early.  No significant curve.  My deepest empathy for those with the curve!

So... I'm in the awful process of searching out a vacuum pump and would appreciate input.

If I gotta do this thing once or twice A DAY, I think I would get tire of hand-pumping the thing up each time.  Are the battery models worth it? Please advise on your recommendations here.  I guess this use is different than the normal use by people who want to prep for intercourse... So, I guess I don't need the ring thing?  Is it possible to put one of these things on for a while just before sleep and possibly go to sleep (briefly) while using it?

What models seem best to the Peyronies' brotherhood?  Are there any models just for Peyronie's sufferers which are designed to keep a seal for a while and not just a quick erection prior to intercourse?

Thanks, my friends.   It is so humiliating to go in and have a doctor handle your thing and have to talk about it.

OK I see his name already on the forum... Dr Tom Lue at the UCSF Med center.  Met with him this morning.  Thank GOD he is nearby where I live. Some people come from all over the world to see him.  Great sense of humor... Puts you at ease in this most uncomfortable situation.   Now we'll see how the things he prescribed work out.

Welcome to the forum. :)
I suppose after seeing Dr. Lue we can't give you too much advices. :)
But we all are interested to know what he had said, what is the treatment he has prescribed to you :)

Thanks James... His initial treatment is described below.  Increase Trental to 800 Mg 3x/day and stretch the the object for 30 mins a day with a shop-vac and don't expect results for 3-4 months.   Well maybe he didn't say "shop vac"... but get an inexpensive vacuum thing... So I bought two on e-bay (new, I hope) today).... We'll see.  Meanwhile, I will be watching the forum carefully.

Thanks... Any advice still appreciated.

Award,
I will try to answer some of your questions. First, battery or manual is up to your preference. Both will achieve the same result. I prefer manual because it allows a greater degree of control. With a gauge it is even better because you can always achieve the same exact amount of vacuum. Also, I have to pump at work. I don't want people walking by the door hearing a vacuum pump running. Just my personal preference. Since you already bought off EBay, you don't need to know about www.diabetessupplies4less.com. They sell good units at a fair price. Last, do NOT pump up and leave it too long. Certainly not overnight. Pumping too long or too much vacuum can do irreversible harm! And for this therapy, you don't need the ring. That is for guys with ED problems. I hope this info helps. Good luck to you.

Also just my opinion, don't think wearing briefs will do harm to your penis.  However, after Peyronies, probably good idea to wear loose underwear like boxers.

Actually the Dr agreed that it could play a factor to be holding pressure against an erect penis  for long periods of time... He said it can eventually break down the fibers.  Hence the conclusion that frequent (nightly) erections being pressured (downward) by the stricture of briefs CAN be a contributor to Peyronies.

The Dr. looked at my hands for some hereditary signs of Peyronies (or plaques). But, I couldn't tell at first if he was joking. He did keep it "light", which I appreciated. In the end, I think he wasn't kidding. I'm pretty sure he was indicating that I did not have signs of a hereditary buildup of these plaques and therefore it was brought on uniquely by my situation.  Either way... Briefs (at night) gotta go, NOW.

He was looking at your hands for nodules in your palms, Dupuytren's Contracture. It is the evil cousin of Peyronies Disease. it is not uncommon to have both. I have it also.

I will say that is common to have both.
Happily on my palms the contractures stopped developing in the last 15 years, but they are there.
