New here - recently noticed a dent in side of penis
« on: November 14, 2012, 03:00:23 PM »

Hi all,

I'm new to this site and the reason I'm here is I found a dent in the left side of my penis when erect (noticed during masturbation and again the next day with morning wood). As far as I can tell this has all happened within the last week. The internet search for a dent in a penis led me to Peyronies, which led me here.

I'm 57, I think in reasonably in good health, don't have Erectile Dysfunction and the only drugs I take is Simvastatin for cholesterol. I've never smoked and drink in moderation. As far as I'm aware I've never had any trauma or injury in the area of the dent. Whilst I plan to make a doctor's appointment tomorrow, hopefully leading to a knowledgeable urologist appointment (I'm in the UK Midlands if anyone has recommendations) I wanted some opinions if I have Peyronies.

The dent feels as though the left-hand corpora cavernosa is not inflating correctly during erection in one fairly localised area on the LH side, around 1/3 up from the base - it's fine above and below this point. If asked I'd say that the restriction that seems to prevent correct inflation is circumferential, rather than longitudinal, if you understand what I mean, and then only for a small part of the circumference.

I have no pain when erect or flaccid, I can't feel any lumps, callouses or hardening around the dent either when hard or soft and my penis is still straight - but the dent in the side means there's a slight mechanical weakness which would allow me to bend my penis slightly to the left - for comparison I certainly couldn't bend it to the right.

Apart from the obvious concern when one finds a dent in your penis, I'm obviously concerned that, from what I've read thus far, if it is Peyronies then it can be progressive and may get worse before it stabilises, which isn't fun to look forward to.

I hope I've not contravened any forum rules I've not yet come across and I'd welcome your informed opinions.

It sounds like you certainly have some injury. I'm not so sure it's Peyronie's though. Is there any curvature to the penis?  You would only be able to feel any plaque when flaccid.  Your best bet is to get a diagnosis before going any further.

The lumps are very hard to find, in fact I had to show my doc by demo. You need to use two fingers and a thumb and kind of roll two of them, (keeping the third stationary) around the penis. The lump feels like a flat sheet of plyable bone lying along the length of the penis. It can be on any part of the penis and th3ere can be more than one, but this is what causes the restriction in the side and eventual bend, where this side will not expand as much as the other side and the other side expansion will cause a bend towards the lump, a bit like putting sticky tape on a balloon and then inflating it.

Be sure to keep contact with established members on this site for advice, they have a huge amount of practical knowledge.

Cheers, Blacksammi

Rotciv

I am proposing you to see an urologist or better a Peyronies specialist as soon as you can. What you are detailing may be Peyronies and may be not. If it is Peyronies, you must to begin treatment as soon as you can that your situation will not deteriorate.

Rotciv,

I agree that you need an evaluation by a good Peyronies Disease savvy Urologist.  There is no reason to do nothing while you wait however because you can lay the groundwork for your battle while between now and your appointment.  That is a huge head start with no downside other than some minimal cost in money and time.  Since you are more likely ha not to get a diagnosis of Peyronies Disease, I would proceed with some basic supplements that are generally beneficial even to men without Peyronies Disease. (L-Arginine, Ubiquinol, ALC, Mixed tocopherol Vitamin E)

Also go to our Resource Library board and print and read the 4 studies n pentox.  Take them with you to your urologist.  If he diagnoses Peyronies Disease, let him know that you have read that pentox is often used by some leading doctors that specialize in Peyronies Disease based on clinical evidence.

Hopefully you will get a prescription but you will certainly know if you picked a good urologist.

Thanks all for your welcome. I already take 400iu of Vit E daily but non the mixed tocopherol variant and I'm not familiar with the other supplements that Hawk recommends. I'll do some reading.

Meanwhile a doctor's appointment with my GP has been made.

Hi.

i have just been diagnosed with Peyronies and i would recommend that you take The advice and persue treatment quickly and assertively.  i was messed around for over a year.  my problem had to become really pronounced before proper referrals were made.  i lost nearly 18 months and my condition got much more severe than it may have needed to.  may doctors still hold the view that there is nothing that can be done other than be understanding.

good luck and i would suggest at least trying to get Pentox.

best wishes
