Colcrys (colchicine) and VitE only? New case, have some questions

I'm 42 yrs old, 210 lbs, 6'2" height male - just diagnosed this AM.  Am based out of the Atlanta area.

Over a month ago I detected a small mass in my shaft closer to the head.  The mass was deep, made me concerned.  I saw the doctor today, and he told me it was likely Peyronie's and he prescribed me VitE (100mg/day) and Colcrys (colchicine) (0.6mg/day).  He said he'll see me in 3-months, and we will determine next steps.

The mass is maybe the size of the pinky fingernail.

I won't go into the feelings I have now, or any sort of grappling as to why me.  Rather, I'll tackle this as best as I can by finding out everything I can.   >:(

My questions to the group:
- Is the above meds appropriate for my situation, which the doctor described as it was caught early, and appears to be minor?
- He indicated that I shouldn't refrain from sex, all is well there no issues with an erection.  Anything I should be careful with here?
- Should I seek out a second opinion?  Anyone in Atlanta that I can discuss my situation with besides my basic urologist.
- What other activities can I do to deal with this?

I'm a relatively healthy person, non-smoker, not overweight, 1-2 wine/beer per night. I could certainly exercise more - I'm wondering if this is an area I should actively engage in (I hate exercising).

Thanks for the guidance.

Drebin,

The PAV cocktail is both the first line most effective and least invasive treatment.  The colchicine might help inflamation and plaque formation but it has little objective data to support its use in Peyronies Disease.

The doctor's name that keeps coming up from some other members near Atlanta is Dr. Chad Ritenour Emory University.  He is relatively young (mid 40s), He's up to speed with the treatments recommended on our forum: Pentox, VED, Viagra/Cialis/Levitra, supplements, and only suggests surgery as a final option. He appears to be very capable of analyzing one's condition in relation to any surgical options. He welcomes patients with Peyronies Disease and seems very interested in being up-to-date with the latest treatment developments.

Thanks for the quick response.  Just called their office, and he's backed up till Jan (uggh).  So may be going to his physician's assistant or another doctor in the same practice.  Will report on my progress.

Thank you again.

I'm 29 and in the southeast also. I'd go with L-Arginine and Coq10 for sure and definitely start excercise. Only restrictions i'd say is avoid Girl on top. (i'm positive that's what caused mine)

I'm reasonably new to this myself. From what I've read, the limited success that has been achieved by members in correcting this damn disease has been through the use of Pentox, combined with CoQ10, L-Arginine, Acety-L- Carnitine,. For me personally, the lady on top works best because of the curvature.
And yes, exercise, keeping fit, whatever you want to call it definitely helps, IMO.

As Hawk mentions, I would go with the Pentox. I took Colchine for the first couple of months and it helped with the pain somewhat, but I've found that I have better results with Pentox.

Just be careful with girl on top. Can definitely cause damage!

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I saw Rittenour in the Atlanta area.  It was a great visit, got a lot of questions answered - he was very thorough recommending what needs to be done.  I'm now on 1x5mg daily Cialis plus Pentox 3x400 pentox.  Exercise needs to be increased also.  I owe you guys a lot for guiding me in his direction, as it was a much better experience than the previous uro.

I'm tackling this thing like crazy, willing to pay the money for the Cialis and put up with all the side affects with the two drugs in order to make sure I stave this off as much as possible.  He also recommended to stop using the Colcrys and VitE.

Thank you very much for the guidance!

Drebin,

I am glad things went well.  Just curious if it came up where you got his name or if the forum came up during the visit?
