Sorry to hear about your husband problems with the implant. Pray for you that everything will come out OK.
The main issue with the implant is that you have to do it with a surgeon that is doing hundreds a year and not just a few.
I read also by the Internet that very rarely they have to remove the implant for a few months because of infection and then to implant again.
Myself planning to make an implant also, my ED is too severe.

Dora,

I am sorry for the challenge you and your husband are going through.  There are several on this forum that have had implants and most of those I have talked to over the years are somewhere between quite happy and ecstatic over the outcome.  I have researched this fairly well and am considering an implant.  It is true that erection is likely impossible after removal because the sponge like tissue that gorges with blood during an erection has been damaged or replaced b the implant. If it was a 3 piece inflatable implant, they can take just the cylinders out, leave the reservoir and pump and just replace the cylinders after the infection is gone.  This would be a much easier surgery than the first time.

The critical factor is picking a VERY top notch surgeon.  What area of AU do you live in and who is your surgeon?  A surgeon should be doing at least a couple of these every week.  That is especially true if there are complication in health like diabetes, a prior failed implant, or significant plaque or fibrosis.

Prayers for you and your husband Dora!

I wish there was more I could offer, but there are far more wise and able on this board than I.
