I went to see Dr. LeRoy Jones yesterday and when he heard my history (years of intercourse pain, ED, diabetes, PTSD, MDD, Desert Storm vet) he just said "You need an implant."  Very matter of fact and proceeded to show me why with the loss of about 2.5 inches and the down/left curve and the knots of plaque/nodules.  I was very taken aback.  I asked for Pentox as I have been lurking here since I saw the other Uro and asked if traction and a VED would work, he said it couldn't hurt but I need to think hard about it as if I go too much longer the smaller the implant.  He gave me the brochures and a card to a guy that is an advocate and sent me on my way.  Glad I am medicated or I probably would have gone WAAYY off on him.  So I picked up the Pentox, bought some arginine, they ordered the pump and I have a Leluv Slider that I have now worked up to 8+ hours a day.  Should I keep it up or just say EFF it and get the implant???  Ofr does anyone know of another Uro in San Antonio that might be better to work with?

Thanks,

Sully

I understand the stress with Peyronies Disease. We've all been there and you are logically concerned right now. The first thing I would say though would be to calm down a little, take a deep breath and look at your options. Many men have seen good results in treating Peyronies with combinations like a VED, Pentox, Cialis, ALC, CoQ10 and L-Arginine etc. Stress doesn't help though.

I don't know anything personally about implants and I hope I never get that bad but you mentioned you've had years of pain during sex and other problems so I'm just wondering if you have tried any kind of treatment before and what the other urologist said. The pain with Peyronies usually subsides after a year or so. To my way of thinking an implant would be the very last step and others may be able to offer some advice if you can give some more information about how long you've had this, amount of curvature anything else that might seem relevant. The more information you give the more good options people can suggest. I'm in the UK so I can't suggest any doctors worth seeing. No doubt some of the US forum members can come up with some good names. This is a great place for getting information on Peyronies Disease and there are lots of members with considerable experience.

Sullytex, As the administrator here I would like to welcome you to the forum.  I also want to let ou know that double posting and "bumping posts" is not permitted.  I deleted your bump post.

As a member I think your doctor is wrong on 1 point and right on another.  A VED and pentox can' hurt.  That is certainly correct.
Waiting will just mean a smaller implant is false.  In fact I would not consider an implant unless i used a VED or Traction or both for at least 4 months because you will at the very least gain some size back allowing for a larger implant.  You also have the potential to find some significant improvement and decide you are not ready for an implant.

I  am currently considering an implant.  If I was incapable of intercourse without one the decision would be easy but that is not the case.  It is just that intercourse is not very spontaneous.

Before you make that step you need to understand ALL the pros and cons.  You also need to very carefully consider your surgeon.  While there are several very good surgeons there are MANY mediocre and poor surgeons that only do a dozen of these surgeries a year.  Finally you need to consider the model of implant.

Good Luck

Thanks for the input Hawk and Ash, very kind of you!

Hawk, I apologize for the bump.  i will remeber that going forward.

The LeLuv slider is working a bit and I am able to have intercourse still, as you, not very spontaneously.  The VED should be in this week or next and I will begin therapy post haste.  I have a long way to go to regain the size i lost.  I am hoping between all therapies, pentox, ubiquinol, infrared, I can get the big fella back to his  original state of function at the least.

Again, thanks, and the board has already  proved and invaluable resource!

The loss of size with Peyronies is fairly common but it's also common to regain a significant amount if not all through the use of a VED or traction in combination with all the right medicines such as Pentox etc. There was a recent example of somebody in the progress section who threw the kitchen sink at this and he has basically managed to beat this in just a few short months. It's worth reading if only for a bit of inspiration Mrgnarly - Peyronies Society Forums

I am also doing all I can and the VED has produced some remarkable improvements in just a single week but having said that it is often quoted here that Peyronies is a marathon and not a sprint. Consistent and proactive treatment can produce great results in many cases to a point where Peyronies is no longer a significant problem but I can't emphasise enough that a positive attitude is absolutely fundamental to your success.

Thanks for the insight Ash and Dora.  Prayers for your husband going your way also!

I guess being an only child has the "Want it NOW!" syndrome pretty strong.

My wife has been on me about feeling guilty that I don't have the same "amount" that I had in my first marriage.  I am thankful for her understanding as I am sure your husband is for yours Dora.

Dora,

I know the stress and disappointment of your family situation colors your view.  That is understandable, but you also have to realize that the vast majority of implant recipients feel they have a new lease not only on their sex life, but on life in general.  Giving the universal advice that implants are bad is not accurate.

Absolutely do NOT just say 'F~@< it' and get an implant.  You clearly were not impressed with this doctor or the advice/compassion he gave you.

An implant is a non-reversible decision.  It shouldn't be made lightly.  It is of course great in the cases where it's warranted and the recipient feels comfortable with their doctor and the procedure but you do not sound like this is the case for you.

My advice is to find another doctor who seems to want to give you more care and attention.  I don't think there's a rush to get implanted and so make sure you really feel comfortable with anything you decide to go ahead and do.
