Hi everyone,

I've been away for a long time. Well i would like to know a bit more or someone to share their experiences in what concerns congenital penile curvature. Im trying to make my mind in order to proceed with the surgery. I dont know how much time it will take for that but lets go slow, very slow... So anyone with positive or bad experiences in the correction of congenital curvature? Im specially interested in ventral curvature (thats my case). What doctors you consulted, which techniques were used to correct the problem? Pre-op and post-op results/outcomes, aftercare, degree of curvature, etc... Please share what you feel is important. My only experience was consulting 3 doctors, 2 from my natal country (not helpfull at all) and the other the famous Brazilian Dr. Paulo Egydio (in São Paulo). This last was a very nice experience, but once more insecurity, etc... made me postpone the surgery.

Alberto

Welcome back to the forum.
I don't have congenital curvature, but the board you have posted your tread is dedicated for that.

Thank you. Well i've been thinking making the surgery in maybe one year, more or less, depending on the self aquire courage but also trying to match the best time because of work/job. I've been running a small business that takes a lot of self commiting to it. I think the worst thing of all is distance. For example in the country i live there are no good specialists in this area so i must certainly have to travel. I live in South Europe (Portugal). For what i gathered these last years there isnt much choice in Europe either. I think we have  Dr. Ralph in UK, that does modified nesbitt for congenital, there is a Serbian Dr. Miroslav Djordevic (also modified nesbitt) from Sava Perovic previous team, some Italian Doctors (dont remember exactly the names but there is a few of them), and in Germany i think. In fact i think almost all of these Doctors learned from or shared experiences with Dr. Paulo Egydio.
Now if we look to the other side of the Ocean there are some quiet good ones in USA and South America and some of them were pioneer of some of the techniques beeing used. Of course i already know Dr. Paulo Egydio so im quiet confortable with his tremendous skills and is reputable expertise (actually Dr. Laurence Levine in some reply to my mail said i would certainly be in very good hands with Dr. Paulo). I have read all the articles possible, studied everything so i think now i only have to take the definite step when ready.
I remember talking to Gavman a few months ago i think he did the modified nesbitt but i think he is no longer around. Between the techniques the modified Nesbitt seems the most reassuring, against the plication (non absorbable sutures, feeling the sutures permanently and some disconfort, and possible recurrence) and incision and grafting (must be done by a very good doctor with a lot of expertise). Mmm i actually think i have talked with someone that done the surgery with Dr. Paulo, i think it was was  nycjake10002 but he is no longer in the forum right?

You are right regarding nycjake10002, he was last active at January 24, 2011.
Regarding surgeries for Congenital Curvature you may find a lot of information, regarding doctors in Europe also on the Surgery for Peyronie's Disease board.
You will find also opinions regarding Dr. Miroslav and the doctor in Germany if you will read the topics on this board with attention.

Hi everyone,

I've just read a recent article/poster about a new approach to congenital ventro/ventro-lateral curvature:

"CHICAGO, IL USA (UroToday) - Presented by F. E. Kuehhas,1 R. Herwig,1 and P.H. Egydio1 at the annual World Meeting on Sexual Medicine (WMSM) - August 26 - 30, 2012 - Sheraton Chicago - Chicago, Illinois USA"

Link: WMSM 2012 - A new surgical method for the correction of congenital penile curvature based on geometric principles and superficial tunica albuginea excisions - Poster | Peyronie's | UroToday | Urology Information

Seems an interesting approach, relatively safe, and with very high success rates (even if its just a modified nebitt approach). Not bad at all for a 211 males sample. One of the things that took my attention was that it had the colaboration of a European Dr. named Franklin Kuehhas, from Austria (Medical University of Vienna). Does anyone heard of him or know this center?

Alberto

No, your questions are not stupid, is stupid not to ask a question in a subject you are concerned about.
Regarding the questions themselves, have more experienced people on the forum than me in the subject and I am sure they will answer you.
Just have to take in consideration that any surgery can have complications.

Hi I'm new to the forum and really just had a few questions.

My bend is approx 45 degrees to the right and causes me no pain. I have had it for as long as I can remember. It causes my girlfriend pain occasionally but other than that it does not affect me. I have been thinking about surgery for a while now and wondered if it left any scars and exactly how much length I would lose. I know it's a stupid question too but if you lose length do you gain girth?!

Any help would be appreciated.

james2012,
You don't need to post multiple messages. We will see them and respond. If you have a congenital curve, then surgery is about your only proven option. But surgery is a last resort, and you should really determine if your curve is congenital first. If it is NOT congenital, then there are other approaches you can try first.

If I had congenital curvature, and if it was such that I would be satisfied with 25% - 50% correction, I would give traction a try.  I would commit to 4 or more hours a day for more than 90 days and evaluate if there was any improvement.

First, I would take a series of objective measurements of curve (with a tracing), length with bpsfl, and a couple erect girth measurements at different points on the shaft.

If any of these measurements responded to traction after 6 weeks, I would continue until at least a month after all progress appeared to stop.

It is important that everyone understand that I have NO evidence traction would have any benefit for congenital curve but I think it makes sense that even a normal penis can be stretched to some degree.   If that is true, with congenital curve,  traction would only stretch the short side reducing the curve by some degree.

Hi everyone. Im contemplating going forward with surgery for congenital ventral curvature. I will make an apointment with the urologist in the next 2 weeks. It will be in Austria, Vienna.
I have a concern maybe you can help me. Im a smoker, not a big one, but a pack lasts two days. Still young with 27 years old. I dont know if anyone here is or used to be a smoker but the question is should i try to quit/stop before and after surgery? The doctors never mentioned this habit, im just contemplating if could be eventually harmful? Any help?

You should stop smoking at least 2 month before surgery. The "flesh" will heal much better with better blood flow in your best tool.
Pentox, CoQ-10, L-Arginine, VED, some Chinese herbs
