does anyone know why some of us have loss of sensation and have numbness?

jackp

The most common causes of loss of sensation are blood flow to the glans or nerve damage. Nerve damage can come from an injury or back surgery.

If you have a heart condition this could be part of the blood flow problem. Over a year ago my heart doctor put me on Lovaza to help raise my good cholesterol. After 6-8 weeks I notice a better blood flow to my glans and better sensation.

I had an injury to my back just before Thanksgiving. A guy on a cell phone hit me, while I was walking in a parking lot. The doctors are now scheduling another MRI and nerve test. With the back pain and being on Lortab I can not tell it it affected the nerves to my penis or not. I do know that the Lortab has dulled the feelings in my glans. I will be glad to be off this stuff!!!

Myself lost sensation not just to the glans but all the penis and feel numbness do to the Peyronies.
The lost of feeling and numbness make me difficult to be aroused and ejaculate (no way by masturbating) even my testosterone is very high for my age.

yeah last time i checked my testosterone my uro said it was high too.

iv heard different opinions from other whether nerve damage can come from penile fractures, others say injury to the dorsal nerve can come from penile fractures and others say its near impossible to damage the nerves through a penile fracture.

my uro doesn't think i have nerve damage. he also says that i didn't have a penile fracture when i had a trauma, but i had all the symptoms of a penile fracture and the MRI to diagnose the injury was done 3 years later, although i did take a Doppler ultrasound 2 weeks after the injury to diagnose the penile fracture but that came out clear. is it possible that the ultrasound guy could have missed the fracture?

he does say its possible to have the scar tissue/plaque compress on the nerves or blood vessels that go to the nerves, but even if that was true if the nerves were compressed for so long doesnt that mean the nerves would die?

even when i went to my neuro the neurologist said he didnt see anything that could be compressing the nerves on the mri, but when i went to urologist he said that the scar tissue is there and its really deep, the reason why the MRI isn't picking up on it is because the scar tissue is so small.

i so want my life back. how do we live a life with this low of quality. im only 25. iv been dealing with this for 6 years. i need xiaflex to work.

what do you think James? do you think the Doppler ultrasound would of picked up a penile fracture 2 weeks after the injury happened, mind that im a very fast healer.

so now im just waiting for xiaflex to come out, but its taking so long. i just want my penis to come alive again, sigh.

it could be possible that i fractured my penis in 2006 and caused nerve damage to the dorsal nerve and a year later the feeling came back but since i squeezed it, it went numb again. the only reason i squeezed it again was because i wasnt getting orgasms through ejaculation and because my uro said I HAD NO DAMAGE TO THE PENILE TISSUE".

i dunno what to do besides feel helpless. we all hope for xiaflex to work. my worst fear is that il get the injection but i will still be numb after that. that is my ultimate fear.

As in your case, many time is happening that different doctors have different opinions and it make the patient mind mix up.
From my experience, the MRI is showing things very clear, if the operator knows how to interpret what he is seeing.
Regarding

In my opinion two weeks is too short time for the fracture to heal, but I am not a doctor, it is just what I am thinking.

yeah, then it couldnt have been a fracture. my uro said the same thing. im sure xiaflex will give us our nerves back. my life is way to short to go the rest of my life without feeling. how do you process your daily life james? i get so depressed daily because the voice in the back of my head gives me doubts about xiaflex.

how did u get your scar tissue and plaque james? was it through a trauma?

james1947

Regarding my scar and plaque, my suspicion is the TUNA process I had for enlarged prostate. The doctor inserts the tools via the urethra.
My daily life? I was completely out of order because this disease ruined my life.
While reading the forum, getting answers for my questions and help from the veterans I decided to invest as much time as I can with the knowledge I learned on this forum.
This is my psychological therapy  :) :) :)
To tell you that I am 100% OK? I can't. I suppose will feel much better if the implant will be successfull

james do you think its possible that i may have damaged a blood vessel that leads oxygen to my nerves?

if thats the case then i would have nerve damage right?

but my uro dosent think i have nerve damage and if he thinks i dont have nerve damage then my question is invalid, right?

i dont know iv been thinking about that lately. maybe i damaged the blood vessel that leads oxygen to my nerves, and since that blood vessel is damaged my nerves are numb because there not getting the oxygen they need.

I think you should listen to your uro.
Are you doing some treatment right now? Pentox for example will increase the oxygen supply because is modifying the red cells to be more flexible and can penetrate very narrow blood vessels.
Other treatments, like VED will improve also blood flow.
If your theory is right, those treatments should eliminate your numbness, just need pation. I know is very difficult in your age, I was very impatient when I was there.
Regarding nerve damage, I don't think is so easy to do. Just see how long time and difficult is for a dentist to kill the nerves when you need a tooth repair. (sorry for my English, hope is enough clear)
Xiaflex may be the solution for you an many others, but in the mean time you should be proactive and not just wait.

iv tried pentox but only for a month and no change in sensitivity i don't think that will help my sensitivity but maybe i haven't tried it long enough.

yeah i should really just trust my urologist in saying its not nerve damage, but ever time i touch there its just so numb...

thx for you opinion james =)

Go back on Pentox, 2*400mg daily but for at least 6 months to know if it helps. One month is to short time to know if it helps or not.
I stopped just now for a few days with Pentox because I have flue, I can tell you that my numbness increased and my sensitivity was not enough to get to ejaculation yesterday.

Lost sensation in the shaft.

Far more annoying though is the slight loss of length has meant the foreskin covers the head more, which in turn means I cannot last anywhere near as long as the friction is far greater.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.
