Hello there

I am a new member aged 64 and diagnosed about 2 months ago. I first noticed a severe bend in my penis during arousal and pain during intercourse. At the time I was undergoing (and still am) big life changes and stress such as partial retirement and moving areas to be near the grandchildren and to spend much more time in  our Spanish holiday/retirement home. All this resulted in a sharp aggressive/depressive episode which has been succesfully by treated anti-depressant drug therapy. During the course of treatment I discused my bent penis problem with my GP and we both felt that this was a significant factor in triggering my depression.

I was referred to a Urologist at our new local hospital where Plaques were detected and I was recommended to wait a couple of months for them to finalse. This was done yesterday and I am now on the list for a Nesbits procedure which is causing me some alarm on reading the details of this surgery. We also discussed other options such as is it time to hang up my spurs, an expression by the doctor which amused me. As a result I have been precribed Viagra for erectile problems to see how it goes.

First see if your doc will switch you to cialis. viagra is ok for ED, but for peyronies, 5mg of cialis is better (if you support it of course).
Then see another urologist. Wait and see and then nesbit is not what i consider "having done everything". Any kind of surgery is only last option, when all other options have failed.
If I were you, I would try first to see a peyronies specialist. One who would prescribe you pentox, and traction device or VED.

Do some reading here, see what therapies helped others.

And dont forget that in GB Xiaflex should be out by mid 2013. Maybe its worth waiting a couple of months and not have to have surgery.

(These are just ideas)

I am 100% in agreement with Luciano.
Sorry to tell you but your urologist is an other example of incompetent, out of contact doctor. Almost all of us are facing or faced such uro's. Welcome to the forum.
Having Peyronies you don't wait a few months, you begin treatment as soon as possible because in the acute stage (beginning of the disease) you have the biggest chances to stop the disease progression and even to reverse it with oral medications!
Regarding surgery, is the last resource and not the first! Also Nesbit surgery is more for congenital surgery than for Peyronies. Your uro is really not competent. Try to find an other one as soon as you can.

I would like to state also that Viagra may help, but will not help regarding to the pain. In addition, you have to see how you can get off the depression medications because most of them causing ED. Or to find one that is not causing ED.

In my opinion you should begin a treatment that will include:
Pentox 2 or 3*400mg daily. Needs doctor prescription, can buy from the Internet without prescription.
Cialis low dose of 5mg daily. I am using 4mg daily because I am cutting the pill of 20mg in 5 pcs.
L-Arginine 1000mg daily.
Ubiquinol 2 or 3*100mg daily.
I am also strongly recommending the usage of VED.

I am advising you to read as much as possible the forum boards to understand what is in front of you and what is the approach .
If you have any questions, just write them down, I am sure you will get answers.
Age 71, Peyronies from Jan 2009 following penis fracture during sex. Severe ED.
Lost 2" length and a lot of girth. Late start, still VED, Cialis & Pentox helped. Prostate surgery 2014.
Got amazing support on the forum

I agree with James..

I Think one of the most important things is to get a Dr that knows what is going on and isn't going to ignore you and put you off.

It's good that you  are taking a proactive approach to this and not putting it off.
Stay informed and get a Dr that knows what he is doing, they are out there you just have to look.

Good luck
