Congenital curvature - From diagnosis to post-surgery

This forum greatly helped me, so that I think it is fair to share my experience with you. Informations on congenital curvature are too rare and confidential.

As far as I am concerned, I always had a bent penis. It was a downward curvature with an angle of approximatively 50°. It did not bother me until my first sexual experiments, when I was 18. I do not want to give TMI. Let just say that intercourses were quite difficult. My fiancee was hopefully patient and helpful.

The first difficulty arose when I tried to find a skilled urologist regarding congenital curvature. I had to visit four (!) urologists before finding the right one. His diagnosis was clear: it was a congenital curvature, not a Peyronie's disease or a tight frenulum problem like the other urologists suggested. He said that surgery was the only solution but it also invited me to think about the whole process before taking any hasty decision. He also acknowledged that it was not so common for him to operate congenital curvature on adults and that the operation required specific skills -that he had.

After one month, I made up my mind. I wanted to get rid of this problem that was harming my sexual and sentimental life. I visited him for a second consultation. He explained to me his technique in details: it was a modified Nesbit corporoplasty (Yachia). He told me that the loss in length would be minimal but that he had to perform a mandatory circumcision during the intervention. It did not rejoice me but I had to agree. I read that circumcision was not mandatory but I trusted this urologist.

Finally, the day of the surgery came. It was really less painful that I could imagine it. To be perfectly honest, nocturnal erections were very painful during three days then mildly painful during ten other days. It was during the Holidays so that I avoided any activity for two weeks. I stayed one night at the hospital and I was free to leave on the second day. They took off my bandage before I leave and I discovered my new penis: bruised, swollen but straight! My first erection was painful but I was very happy to see that it worked. Post-operative care was simple. I only had to wash my penis with clear water.

The last stitches fell away four weeks after and I waited another two weeks before resuming my sex life. To be honest again, it took me a few months to gain back my sensitivity. My whole penis and especially my glans seemed to be numb. I was quite anxious about it but it did not last. It was amazing after this time, sex is quite easier and better with a straight penis. Regarding the potential drawbacks, I was afraid of circumcision but it was not a big deal. I do not miss my foreskin. I also lost about one centimetre in length. It is not a problem.

Two years later, I can say that I am fully satisfied with the job that my urologist has done. It is perhaps stupid but it gave me a lot of self-confidence and I have never regretted my decision. I hope it could help those that are frightened by the idea of surgery, which I can fully understand.

Thank you very much for sharing the information.
I also heard that yachia (modified nesbit) was quite helpful for congenital curvature.

I myself have Peyronies Disease with strong hourglassing, so that method will not suit me.
And yes I am afraid of surgery... but I think I'll go for it this summer.
I have found 2 surgeons that would do the method I want, but have not decided yet which one I trust.

JP - thank you for your post - it is really encouraging, especially for me, since I have a condition very similar to yours.
I had a few questions:
In what country and with which doctor did you operate?
What were the costs of the surgery?

Thank you,
ferenfar
