Hello guys,

This is my first post on this Forum so I would like to introduce myself and tell you about my issues with Peyronie's disease.

I am a 48 year old canadian resident of Toronto. Early in my teens I suffered from convulsions, I think the first time was when I was 13. It was terrifying for my parents and the rest of the family as episodes took place when I was sleeping, usually around 5 to 6 am. At some point attacks started taking place during the day, suddenly, in the subway or in the middle of the street. Doctors prescribed cocktails of heavy medications which got rid of convulsions and I could have an almost normal life. The problem is that soon after starting treatment my libido was reduced to almost zero. In my mind I wanted to have sex but I did not have a physical response. At 22 I started receiving testosterone which was a total boost in my sex life. It also made me develop a lot of muscle. I married at 24 and had 2 children. At 28 after more than 10 years of not experiencing convulsions medication was gradually reduced, at the same time they reduced the Testosterone intake. Since 32 and in order to prevent a convulsion episode I take 2 mg of Clonazepam every night.

When they supressed the Testosterone my libido returned to zero. Once I restarted the Testosterone treatment I started feeling very bad and doctors told me that my liver could not afford processing more artificial hormones. Now it was time for surgery; they operated on me and implanted a penile prosthesis. It did work for around 10 years, even though I had to be careful because "I was hard" all the time, but I did not care much as far as I could perform sexually. After 10 years sex became very painful. Doctors told me the prosthesis was damaging the penile caverns. It was the turn time for viagra, cialis, etc. The problem is that they do not work properly. Why? because of Peyronie's disease... After 2 surgeries on my penis, first to implant and then to remove the prosthesis I developed severe scars over the caverns and erections are not good enough. I can have sex but it is not satisfactory enough neither for myself nor for my partner.

I am thinking about surgery to get rid of the scars and am willing to exchange ideas with other guys who are in the same boat. It is very frustrating not being able to perform properly at 48, when most men are enjoying a satisfactory sexual life. I have been through a lot in my life and I think I deserve to enjoy sexuality without problems. I heard about stem cell procedure for many physical problems and am willing to research on the issue and see if it may apply to peyronie's disease. How about talking to a doctor? well, those of you who live in Canada may know that my case would not be treated as a priority and it will take me years (if not forever) to get steam cell surgery.

Did any of you experience surgery? was the result satisfactory? didn't a surgery produce more scars? please give me a light on what to do. I will be very grateful for your input. Thanks much!
