Peyronie's in China, during the epidemic!

Hello all,

Glad I found the site. Much more informative re: treatments than the (too many) academic articles I've read in the last week--most of which dismiss oral supplements. (And I've read the Guide on this site.)

My story is similar to most others I've read here, but with one huge difference: I'm in China, don't speak or read Chinese well enough to consult with doctors or pharmacists, etc. That makes finding treatment, supplements, meds, and traction or vacuum devices really challenging. (RestoreX, for example, doesn't ship outside the US.)

My story: I'm 57. Two or three years ago I had a Urinary Tract Infection that was followed by Benign Hyperplasia (prostate). All that while I was experiencing something new: inability to maintain a firm erection. I was sexually active during that time and was slightly bummed that much of the time I'd start hard but soon go softer; determined to finish my partners and myself off, I wouldn't quit, but would soldier through (though usually without being able to orgasm myself, even after 15 or 20 minutes).

A year later the UTI and prostate BHP were cleared up, but the semi-erect sex issue wasn't. I got involved with a 30-year-old about eight months ago and we had a lot of semi-erect sex. Fwiw, I tried Viagra once, and while it made the erection rock-hard, afterward I noticed a very strange thing: my entire penis was freckled with blood-red spots, like chicken-pox or something, seeming to indicate some type of capillary breakdown due to the increased bloodflow from the drug. Laugh with me as I remember my girlfriend looking closely for the first time at my penis with me at that exact moment. Those spots went away shortly after, but I'm sure they never left her memory any more than they left mine. I didn't explain to her because I didn't want to admit to her that I took viagra due to what I (wrongly?) thought was Erectile Dysfunction because of the semi-erection and inability to orgasm.

Anyway, in retrospect, I think the buckling (bending) trying to finish all of those long, semi-erect sessions caused the trauma that caused the Peyronie's. I had no idea that buckling could be so dangerous.

About a week or two ago I noticed a pronounced leftward and upward curvature, maybe 30 degrees. Plaque knots up on the left side then ropes to the dorsal (top) toward the glans. Slight hourglass. I wake up every morning with an erection, so no Erectile Dysfunction. And masturbation is still my #1 hobby, with no problem.

So here I sit in China. Coronavirus broke out about 10 days ago, and the entire country is on self-imposed lockdown. Trains to Shanghai are a major virus risk, and flying out of the country for treatment elsewhere will start with a 14-day quarantine in many countries. Travel and treatment will probably be complicated by this epidemic for another month at least.

I have questions:

Insurance coverage for Peyronie's:
--what is covered? Traction devices? Injections? I'm not considering surgery for a long time, as my condition is mild right now.

To make matters worse, my insurance is worldwide--except for the US, which is "too expensive," so I would love to hear what Asian cities have good (and cheap) doctors/hospitals who specialize. SE Asia, East Asia, India, whatever--anybody have recommendations?

I was able to get a Chinese version of L-Arginine at my neighborhood pharmacy, but that's all. Does anybody have tips for dealing with this in China?

Hope that wasn't too long.

Nice to meet all of you, and to see so much kindness and support from so many people.

Best,

Neetch

Unfortunately I can't help too much on the China front but just wanted to say welcome. Sounds like you have done your research and have a positive outlook. Best of luck. Maybe you can find a good doctor in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, or even KL
