Hi all,

I'm a 21 year old male student. I was born with a congenital dorsal (downwards) curvature of the penis in erection. A year ago I started to consult a doctor and I got operated three weeks ago (Nesbit Procedure). 'Unfortunately' I had to give up on my foreskin so I was circumcised at the same time. It's been three weeks now and the doctor gave me Androcur (anti-androgens) to prevent erections for three weeks. What is the main reason doctors give this? Is it to prevent the stitches from breaking when getting erections, is it just to help lower the sexual desire or simply to prevent pain? My surgeon told me I wasn't allowed to have ANY form of sex not even masturbation for 6 weeks. Are erections still dangerous after three weeks or are they just unpleasant due to the pain. Is masturbation really a no no even after 3 or 4 weeks post surgery? Erections are still painful, but my sexual desires are so high that I get it very very easily. I'm really frustrated because I can't get rid of the sexual tension, it's even affecting my mood badly. Anyway to wrap it up:
1) Can the internal stitches still break when getting an erection after 2 or 3 weeks?
2) Is masturbation still prohibited after 3 or 4 weeks?
3) Is masturbation not allowed due to the external skin which can still detach (due to circumcision) or due to the internal stiches?

Thank you

As difficult as it may be, you need to follow your doctor's orders. You want to make sure the sutures heal up well and avoid any tearing of them in the meantime.

It's hard, but follow your doctors orders.  I had plication surgery and experienced painful erections for a few weeks, so that is normal.

Hi cadozh,

I had a Nesbit procedure 4.5 months ago in the UK for the same reason.
I was encouraged to have erections straight away to stretch the skin.
I have heard for medication being given by some Dr's to prevent the pain when obtaining an erection - but more nocturnal erections which impact on your sleep somewhat.
I wasn't told about masturbation, but I very gently got one away after about 4 weeks, relief was palpable (!), but if your Dr says not to, I'd check with him before giving it a grease.
I was told no sex for 6 weeks.
Please feel free to PM me if you have any more questions, I don't get on the forum regularly at the moment as I'm using the net whilst at work.
Cheers,
Gav

Hello, this is my first post, since i had my procedure done almost 2 month ago i think this is the place to post. Excuse me for my spelling , cause English isn't my language. I'm 21 years and i had a nesbit procedure for my congenital curvature. I had something like 80 degree angle down curve. After the surgery i had a hemotom , i think it is a common thing just as my doctor said. The thing is on the third week i discovered a lump (actually i don't know if it is a lump , something swollen). it is on the left side nearly the base of the penis, just where you feel the inner sutures. I'm ashamed to admit that i didn't exactly followed my doctors orders. I didn't do anything the first 6 weeks but i had some prolonged erections ( when i was with my girlfriend, and aroused myself a couple of times with pornography(why?! i don't know  ???)).
The last week it became curved a little bit to the left. I am really scared, because the first thing what i thought is peyronie's. Is it possible ?! If someone could tell what the hell is going on I'd be very grateful.
This swelling becomes bigger after erection and becomes smaller after the day. I still wake up in the night, not of pain but with erection.
I did masturbate couple of times and when it is fully erect the swelling becomes stiff. It hurts a little bit to ejaculate where the swelling and it takes something like a night for the pain to go away.
I'm sorry for the long story , but I'm really worried. My doctor told me "Ahh don't mind it, it'll be fine" . It's not that he's bad or something, its just they are all like that here. And the next appointment with him is only in February , and all of this is driving me crazy.
I afraid it is Peyronies Disease, and worse ,because of my impatiens.
Is it possible to have Peyronies Disease after the operation? or maybe I'm worried to much?!
Someone had or heard about such things after the operation?!

LWillisjr

I've not heard of any cases of Peyronies being triggered after a surgery. I would assume it is some complication related to your surgery. After mine, I also had swelling at the base which was a hematoma. I had to go in twice to have it drained (was basically a pooling of blood). I would think that 8 weeks post surgery that all swelling would be gone by now. When did you see your urologist last? Usually you have a follow up visit 4-6 weeks post surgery.

I saw him last time 2 weeks ago, explained him all of this, and he said not to worry about it. The next time I'll see him is in February. In my case, hematoma after the surgery was gone 2 or 3 weeks after the surgery. The new swelling is not hemotoma, i don't know what it is. Like i said with erection this swelling becomes more hardened and bigger, just where the sutures on the side, and almost goes away when flaccid. It does hurts a little. I don't know maybe it'll be fine maybe not. I hope it will.

I have firsthand experience on this and let me tell you, you're right. It's not swelling from the surgery. I'm 8 months post-op of a plication procedure and yes when i'm erect there is a lump right at the stitches site. I hasn't changed or improved since month 6th until now. When i'm flaccid it doesn't show just like you. I too thought i was from the surgery at first, but after 8 months .. i dont think it will ever go away ... I think it's the stiches that constricted the corpus Cavernosum so in stead of expanding length wise, now it's shortened at the site of the stiches, it's expanding girth wise causing a lump. I dont know ... but i think that's what happened to me. If you talk to your doctor again, ask him and let me know. I asked another doctor and he said most likely this is how it's gonna be. Other than this you should be fine after 3 months ... all the sensation will come back, no more pain, erections will be normal, ... just the lump .. i doubt i will go away. I guess it's a trade of for a straighter penis??

tmwstw you are happy with your surgery or does it bothers you?! I believe i can deal with a lump as it is. My concern was/is that it is something worse. Would you suggest not to do anithing until i'll see my doctor, until the pain goes away? (i mean masturbate or be aroused)

tmwstw

No i'm not totally satisfied with the result, even though it's straighter, my left side was unaffected and now it has a lump. As for the erections, i have noctural erection 5 days after the surgery, and it was fine. I also attemped to masturbate 2 weeks after the surgery ( very gentle though ) I couldn't help it i woke up with an erection everyday. It did not change the result. It still looks the same today compare to week 1 post-op (ofcourse without the swelling). On week 7, when i was sleeping i had a strong erection i thought that i poped the sutures but it'still fine. I can't feel the suture while flaccid but when i'm hard, i can feel the lump getting bigger and harder, not sure if i felt the sutures.
And yes, again for your concerns, you should be fine, i masterbated 2 weeks after the surgery and nothing happened. My doctor didn't even give me any medicine to reduce the noctuaral erections. Anyway, give it some time, dont try to get erect to see the result yet. After 4-6 months, it is your final result, for now just be patient. Good luck.

Thx, i hope it'll be fine. I masturbater 4 weeks after the surgery and also thought i dameged the sutures, but the doctor said it's ok. I do believe this condition is because of my impations, that i didn't let it heal up first. Maybe yours is too, of what i understood. I hope your problem will resolve, and i'll post here about my condition and what the doc said after i'll see him in fabruary.

Hey, Disconnected. I had surgery in July (excision/graft/plication), and I have a swollen area too. I had hematoma near the base, which dissipated. But the other swelling is further along and on the underside of the shaft as you get near the glans - in my case, this was one of the surgery sites. It is marginally noticeable when flaccid and really noticeable when erect - quite lumpy. I initially had some discomfort there when ejaculating, but that seems to have resolved. My doctor doesn't seem too concerned about it; it seems to be just part of the new shape after everything was put back together. It's not as hard as my Peyronie's plaque was. It almost looks as if it could have something to do with how the corpus cavernosa was realigned during the surgery. I wasn't having ANY erections after the surgery, so in my case it definitely wasn't caused by inappropriate early activity.

Well the doc said nat to worry it's fine. There's still some pain after ejaculation, for couple of hours, not too painful but disturbing. There's some more curvature to the left and downwards came back, not big but hell why?? Well I don't know what to think, trying to see the positive as well as not thinking about it at all. Is it bad results or I'm just paranoid?!

gavman

Hi Disconnected, did you have a plication or a nesbit procedure? From what I understand some slight residual curvature is normal after both procedures and the tissue stretches a bit.
Have you tried manual stretching or using an extender in your recovery?
In under 12 months since surgery I have stretched back and gained 0.6 inches in erect length. I have also been doing some regular penis exercises, I used a bathmate pump in recovery followed by jelquing upwards and my erection is still straight at this time and I've also gained about 0.4 inches in erect girth.
Having fears and doubts in completely normal after an op like this. I am seeing a psychotherapist at the moment to help sort out some of that baggage so I don't have to carry it around as much (if at all).
Cheers, G.

can anyone tell me something positive post op surgery.  It seems there are far more horror stories than happy endings..  is anyone happy and or satisfied with their results.

LWillisjr

What procedure are you having. There are several on this forum including myself that have had surgical correction and very pleased with the results.

I have not counted all the stats but I am confident that far more men are happy with the outcome of their surgery than are dissatisfied.  In fact some men are ecstatic.

i had a penile plication on monday 1-7-13 .  3 days post op feeling pretty good.  I have numbness when urinating and cannot tell when completed.  swelling is going down pretty much and my penis is starting to look relatively normal at this stage.

can anyone quantify how much shrinkage in length they have experienced post surgery. TIA

BrooksBro

The amount of length loss is unique to each individual and their surgeon.  Generally, the resulting length is the same as the short side before the surgery.

My loss from plication surgery was noticeable, but only by me.  I went from 85 degrees to about 15.  My wife doesn't say anything about it, just glad it is still long enough to reach from me into her.  Some physicians say a woman's anatomy is such that girth is more important to satisfaction than is length.

drugrunner

how long does it take for the penile numbness to go away.

Had vaginal intercourse on 26th day and it was still very painful and unable to ejaculate due to the numbness and lack of sensation.

Anyone able to provide some color as to when I should expect to be at my new "normal " state.

LWillisjr

My surgery was a bit different than yours. Doc didn't allow any intercourse for minimum of 6 weeks. And it was 4+ months before things started to feel "normal" again.

Don't rush it. You want everything to heal well before you take any risk in causing damage.

Yes lwillisjr is tottally right. Minimum 6 weeks, actually thats when you start to regain more glans sensation at least more noticeable. But the process of fully recovery is still a bit longer, i would say at least 3 months and max 6 months, depending on the surgery performed.

Disconnected,

I had more or less your problems. After the procedure (65degrees down) I had a big ematoma, for 10 days I could not stand up by myself.
After nearly 2 month erections were not good at all, I Felt pain and I had 5cm less than before. With the erections I felt pain, don't know why.
After a few weekes lenght improved a little bit but I discovered a curvature upwards because of a lump (this is the reason of the pain), that unfortunately I still have now. This caused me loss of leght, bad erections, curvature. Hope you will be more lucky. I know I was very unlucky but I read too many people complaining for Nesbit procedure.

I don't think you have to worry.

I had to wait for about 6 weeks before having sex again and... I didn't feel anything. It took me another month to have "normal" feelings again.

still experiencing numbness in the head of the penis.  Cannot ejaculate.  My wife and I have had sex multiple times since the surgery but I still cannot climax.  I had surgery on 1-7-2013.  and started having sex on a weekly basis since then.  Has anyone else had a similar experience with not being able to climax.

LWillisjr

Were you cautioned about not having sex for about 3-4 weeks post op?

the doctor gave me the ok prior to resuming sexual relations.  I am now almost 90 days post-op.  I still have numbness in the head of penis and still unable to ejaculate.

Hey, i did the operation one week ago and i still wake up several times at night because i get a strong erection and it is very painful? any suggestions?

TonySa

If you take daily cialis, maybe stop it for awhile.  Also, an antihistimine at bed time might help decrease the erections.
