I just got back from my visit to a new urologist. He was absolutely amazing.

Straight away explained everything to me, was willing to listen asked me for any questions. He did a thorough physical examination and noted that there seems to be fibrous scar tissue at the base and mid shaft, further - possible suspensory ligament damage on the right side. He said the base is soft and part of the upper shaft are firmer.

This makes sense as I have a loose base, twisted when flaccid, curvature when half erect and mild curvature when fully erect. My penis is loose at the base both when flaccid and erect and does curve from mid shaft.

He advised that this is not peyronies but could develop into peyronies in the future. He prescribed me pentox, daily cialis and viagra. He's going to do an ultrasound in a month with an induced erection where he will be able to determine what is actually going on and will be able to check for any blood flow issues. He recommended not to pursue VED or traction until then but did mention that they may be of benefit once we determine the underlying issues.

He is also going to write a letter and recommend me for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (expensive but insurance may cover it).

He's also doing a full hormone blood test for erectile dysfunction. And he also checked my testicles for testicular atrophy after I advised him of my steroid use (he didn't even have to do this). His best interests seem to be my overall health and he wasn't concerned about time or money or in referring me to a sex therapist which I am very thankful for.

My previous urologist just did a quick physical examination, said he couldn't feel any plaque and told me if it was peyronies there was no cure prescribed me 20mg cialis then rushed me out of his office.

I wish I had seen this urologist earlier. So my advice to any of you guys still in the acute phase is to not give up and if your urologist isn't willing to listen or try new treatments or doesnt do a proper physical exam - see a different one.

This current urologist specialises in transgender surgery so I found him to be very patient, understanding and knowledgeable. His name is Dr Hans Goossen - if anyone is in Australia I highly recommend seeing him.

Starting daily cialis and pentox today so hoping to see some improvement!

Cheers,
JJ

I'm glad that you found someone who helped you. It's good, however we will know more only after your ultrasound diagnosis. I hope everything is just fine.

That is great! Pays to shop around for a good, caring doctor. Just like anything else, you can get a lemon. Glad he couldn't feel plaque but it deepens the mystery of what is wrong. Please keep us posted

Thanks guys, yes the older urologist couldn't feel plaque - the current urologist seems to believe there is fibrous scar tissue at the base and mid shaft causing the bends which he says can develop into peyronies.

I'm guessing if it calcifies everything will become worse and if it dissolves I may heal.

Will definitely know more after the ultrasound.

According to the xiaflex info you cant dissolve plaque. Just soften it.Very hard to soften it once calcified. I have some calcification. Many injections have had little effect on the calcification areas.  Luckily they are small. Just increased my vitamin e to try and prevent more hardening. E may help you prevent future problems. Takes a high dose. Up to 1200 units. Not sure I would take steroids for body building. You dont want to mess up your testicles or prostate. Lifetime of trouble if you do

Thanks for that BubbaD, I have stopped the steroid use I think my urologist was just concerned I may have done irreversible damage.

Has the Vitamin E been effective for you? I did some research on it but most articles/reviews lead me to believe it was not effective. I'm willing to give it a try though.

Btw it says in your signature you're 90% back to normal - congrats on having some success in treatment! I am happy and hopeful after seeing that !

I think e may be helpful to prevent an attack. Not get rid of it. Ok on the steroids. Thanks jj ! I can at least have sex now. Probably more like 80%. Seems to be a little worse at times

Bubba...no offense, but that is not accurate. Xiaflex, if it works on someone, does in fact dissolve the plaque (if not calcified). It will not dissolve all of it 100%. But the actual medication, enzyme within the medication was developed to dissolve the plaque.

JJ, that is great news you found a good doc. I went thru something similar. Went to a Uro that my regular MD referred me to. He basically blew me off and said come back in 6 months. That wasn't good enough for me. So I did some research and found my current Uro who works for a major research university. And thus far, he has been great. Good luck with your situation!
