Hi there,

I am a 22 yr old from Australia, and have recently had some symptoms which seem to point to Peyronie's Disease.

about 8 days ago I was having intercourse with my girlfriend when what seems to be the classic injury happens, she was ontop, went too high, penis slipped out and she came down on it and it was painful for about a minute before I went flaccid (don't think this was injury related I just got turned off and the mood was killed). This has actually happened on multiple occasions over our year long relationship, and since it has been my first sexual relationship I never thought much of it. A couple of days after this, my girlfriend was vigorously dry humping me for several minutes while I was fully erect, which I have also read could cause trauma and injury.

In the days following I had a mild pain when I moved my erect penis sideways (both left and right, no distinction between the two). Then, after inspecting further approximately 5 days after injury (7 days ago now) I noticed some hard lumps along my shaft at the site of the pain. Not sure how long they had been there before that. There's a slight bend, maybe like 5 degrees bend the the left but it's always favoured that way since I always masturbated with my right hand

I have consulted a GP as my first step, approximately 3 days ago or 10 days post determinable trauma/injury events/. He has sent me for STI and STD checks, however only after I mentioned Peyronie's did he also order an ultrasound for me. I am yet to get any of these tests as I am currently in exam block for my final university studies, which is taking up all of my waking hours.

Wondering if I can get some thoughts on whether everyone thinks this is likely to be peyronie's, and the steps I should take next? Other information that would possibly be relevant is as it is in exam week, I have not been eating or sleeping correctly and my caffeine intake is through the roof. I have also been taking Modafin to study with (brought it from uni people so not prescribed to me). Thanks for your time, I'm pretty stressed and scared about this and would appreciate any and all advice

I think it's too early to call Peyronies.  Injuries happen and they heal, Peyronies is incorrect healing, which implies that there is correct healing too, so not all injuries lead to Peyronies.  You are smart to be on top of this early.  I would recommend that you give your self sometime to heal if you have injury, rather then risk further damage.  Think of it as twisting your ankle playing basketball, you would likely avoid any type of activity, running, or playing ball again  for a few weeks to heal, if you keep playing on it, and inflaming the area you risk permanent injury.  Same with your dick.  Avoid sex and masturbation  for a few weeks, wait until you start to feel better then go lightly for a while.

If it were me I would start coq10 200 mg twice a day, it is very safe and good for you and can facilitate proper healing.  Also l citrulline powder, take 1500 mg per day mixed in a little warm water, it will help blood flow to the area.  Both should be available in a vitamin store.  Also a GP is probably the wrong Doctor to see.  IF you can go to a urologist, preferably a doctor that has good Peyronies experience, they can evaluate and see if you need Pentox or other treatments...

Listen to better bend, it's good advice. For Your sake, please just stop madturbating and avoid erections for at least 2 weeks. You will have erections at night that's all u need for right now.
Penis injury in late 2017. A lump formed at injury site that caused no deformity, just pain and a palpable lump. Pain is improving through proper rest and use, diet, and mindfulness. I am always learning and looking to share things that have helped.

Slowsneak,

Welcome!  I would like to refer you to our Peyronies Survival Guide.  It has some basic information to bring you up to speed quickly.  Although there is no confirmation of Peyronies Disease I would recommend a few basics like the lifestyle changes and supplements, and getting some accurate, objective, measurements.  Peyronies Survival Guide - Information for New Members - Peyronies Society Forums

If you escape from this without Peyronies Disease it might serve as a warning siren to you to be kinder to your penis.  You only have one.  When you trigger Peyronies Disease it can go in and out of the active phase for years taking a steady toll.  Please protect yourself and if your GF doesn't know how to ride like a cowgirl and do so responsibly then tell her to assume another position.  Frankly, since this has happened more than once, I would never let her get on top again.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the useful advice. Will immediately stop all masturbation and sex for a couple of weeks and will do a trip to the supplement store in the next few days. Am thinking that the initial stress of thinking I have got Peyronies Disease coupled with minimum sleep and a terrible diet has just all gone to my head. However, I have an ultrasound booked for 2 days time just to check it out because the feeling of these  small hard beads on the underside of my shaft, combined with the stories on here is sending me bonkers. Exam is tomorrow, sleep pattern will return to normal, I'll get these vitamins into me and stop using downstairs for a while and see how we go. Thanks for your advice, support and information, I'll get some updates for you in about a week!

Hawk,

upon further delving into the forum's I've seen a couple of times that you and others talk about the benefits of stimulated erections and blow flow to the penis as a possible treatment for peyronies. Just wondering if you could maybe elaborate on this as opposed to the views above, which are suggesting don't get them. I'm currently in a period of trying not to get erect at all and not having sex/ masturbating. Wondering if this is the right or should I try to get some erections/promote blood flow and then just leave it there! Cheers in advance for reply

I am not a health care professional and I never had a fractured or badly injured penis.  In general terms, however, blood flow equals oxygen.  Lack of erections is known to trigger fibrosis even without an injury.  Also, if I were forming scar tissue I would NOT want to form that scar tissue while contracted.  That is why after implant surgery Dr. Eid has patients inflating and stretching the surgically injured penis within 3 days of surgery.

All of the above is a logical deduction.  It would be nice if we had a study of 1000 men with injuries that stimulated blood flow and stretching with erections or VED's and traction and 1000 men that stayed flaccid., but we don't.

Clearly, there is no therapy in masturbation or intercourse.  Unless you have ed I suspect you will have many erections without having sex.

I was not suggesting that you not have sex or masturbate for a long period of time.  My uro encourages regular  sex to prevent fibrosis.  To me it's sounds like you have a very recent injury and still some pain from the injury.  I was suggesting allowing your self to heal for a short period of time, maybe two or three weeks, and then start back gently, seeing how it feels.  I used the ankle injury analogy, and I think it applies, you stay off it for 1 or 2 weeks and then start slow excersize,  you listen to your body.  I think the last thing you want to do us jump in like crazy and injure yourself again.   But see what your doc says, but try to get to a uro..

I agree with a lot of this good advice but let's look at just a couple of ways that it might not totally apply.  The blood flow to the ankle is fairly consistent and not dependent on episodes of engorgement to bring oxygen.  Since your ankle does not deflate it is not prone to forming fibrosis in a deflated state and scaring in at a smaller size.

Ideally, my guess is that many short-term erections without the possible trauma of sex are probably the very best you can do.  It furnishes blood, thus oxygen needed for healing.  It provides moderate stretching but does not submit the tissue to bending, squeezing, etc.
