Hi guys,

I've been reading this forum a little while now and wanted to post up a question.
I just had an appointment with a urologists today and he was completely useless.  Just said the usual vitamin e/then surgery options.  I asked him to prescribe me some pentox but he said he wasnt allowed.
Has anyone in the UK had this prescribed for them on the NHS?

I'm so annoyed at the moment, was reading alot of good things about it before my appointment and feeling a bit more positive about things, but this has really set me back emotionally.

If not, does anyone know somewhere reputable to buy it online?  Or failing that, I'm going to guatemala this weekend, do you think i'd be able to buy it over the counter there?  From what I know in that part of the world it is generally easier to get whatever drug you want as long as you can pay for it.

Thanks for any help you can give me, this really is a great forum.

Phil

George999

There are guys here on the forum that should be able to advise you on the UK side of this question.  As for Guatemala, having been in Guatemala on multiple equations, I can tell you that I really doubt that you would have any problem obtaining Pentoxifylline in Guatemala without a prescription unless things have changed a lot since I have been there.  Even if not, I would suggest you take with you the Pentox PDFs on this website, since I believe with some certainty that you could easily convince a urologist in Guatemala to prescribe it for you since they are not under the same ridiculous liability issues there.  - George

phil_t

George, that's good news about Guatemala.  So do you think I'd just be able to go in off the street and get it from a pharmacist or would I have to see a doctor first?  I'm only there a month so it might be hard to get an appointment sorted.

Really appreciate the help

George999

Given the nature and safety of Pentoxifylline, I strongly believe that just about any pharmacy in Guatemala would sell it to you over the counter.  But appointments with private doctors in most Central American countries are easy to come by.  I have made one month visits to both Guatemala and Costa Rica in the past and was able to get doctor appointments within a few days in both countries with no problem.  Money talks in those countries and I am sure that pounds or euros would talk every bit as loud as dollars.  You should be able to leave Guatemala with probably a six month supply of Pentox if you like as long as you can get it back through customs at home.  That would be my bigger concern.  I have known people living in the US who routinely visit Central America for medical care AND prescription needs.  Personally I prefer Costa Rica since things are a little more stable there (an understatement actually), but both countries have good access to medical care for travelers.  - George

Ok thanks George, I'll try picking up 6 months worth seeing as the NHS are really not keen to prescribe it to me here...

Wow, first I become a peyronie's sufferer, then a drug mule...exciting times!

Hi Phil. Cant you tell me which doc you saw in which town? I hear Dr Ralph will prescribe it, he is in London.

We have our first appointment next week, not with him though, and in a different city, so I am worried we get the same reply.

Kind regards,

My husbands PCP decided today when we called in for a refill that she no longer feels comfortable prescribing Pentox..that it is not her specialty and she has a small consultation office and is afraid of getting sued if he gets malpractice happy if he doesn't see results.
We don't have insurance so seeing a urologist is tricky, and costly.
He has been having great results using Pentox over the last month or so..and I saw someone recommend River Pharmacy online..has anyone else purchased their pentox through them (or any other med)?  Or any other online pharmacy?
Thanks!

Tim468

I don't know about the pharmacy, but I would seriously consider a new PCP.

Hi:

Yes ,I have order from riverpharmacy! Canadian pharmacy that ships from India . I was told it would take a month for my meds to arrive. It only took 8 days ! Wow, because I have personal career knowledge of foreign and domestic shipping.

This being said, I hope that my next ship comes in soon!  I will try others later to save bucks.
Satisfied customer so far: yours truly fubar

You can actually get Pentox (Trental) from Alldaychemistry in India. No Rx required. I use ADC for Levitra and it works as well as the drug here in the US.

Iamthewife:

Just received my second shipment from river pharmacy today. They also sent me an E-mail that it was delivered.I was surprised it took only over a week again. They send their packages by express mail! All the way from India no prescription required .

I find them very credible and fast.Remember this is a company from Canada shipping from India. I have found Debbie and Karen who I have made my orders with very pleasant to have conversation with, easy ordering takes a second.

Good luck, fubar

Someone pointed out a while back that pentox from riverpharamacy is very cheap (as in, so cheap it made them suspicious of it). From researching, the price does appear to be within the parameters of the cheap end of what the drug can be bought for with a prescription. The website also has a decent reputation. However, it might be a good idea to get a sample tested so that people can have more peace of mind. I don't know how to go about it, but it might be something worth looking into as a community for piece of mind for those who struggle to get with a doctor familiar with modern treatments.

Yes it is of very low cost to purchase pentox and cialis.I for one get my meds free of charge through the VA. I take a bag full of meds due to heart disease and diabetes along with a hand full of other medical issues. The company I work for carries good medical coverage,  my heart attack surgery, hospital stay cost me 186.00.

Having these medical issues my doctor was reluctant to prescribe lavetra the substitute for cialis at the VA. They only give you one tab a week,  this was not going to work for me. Filling a prescription at Walmart for cialis 10 tabs 240.00 with insurance copay  still 197.00 $. At RIver pharmacy I receive 40 tabs 20mg strength for 130.00 something I think. A ll I know is that I do have erections all night long and in the morning.

So to me the proof is in the pudding. Yes there could be some chemical in the drug that is bad for you but I feel that way about all the meds I take. Also I am sure many of our generic drugs are out sourced along with everything else. I'm greatful for being able to purchase something that works and saving lots of money.

Spending 3 dollars on a pill rather than 24 dollars a pill has worked well for me. I'm not saying its the ideal situation but I see no difference in the cialis and this generic from India. I also buy my pentox from them, at about 18 cents a pill if my memory serves me.
My last purchase of 40 tabs of cialis and 240 pills of pentox was 176.00 approximately and shipping was free.

I told a vascular surgeon I was taking pentox before being diagnosed with PAD. She said I should keep taking it.Funny something I new for the past year with all my symptoms including ED. I thought pentox would also help my diseased leg. I was right it is used for PAD.

I will be hitting my doctor up for a script sense I have two reasons to have it. I will be doing this for one reason only it will be free .

I have had results with the pentox as well better circulation,  my legs are not tired or sore.Yes I took a risk I was not going to wait and find out if it was going to get better on its own. It has paid off for me and am thankful. Of course when you go out of country for meds you are doing this  at your own risk.

I am just stating this as my own experience and it has helped me and no script required helped a lot with the slow process of getting nothing done at my appointments.

Hi, I'm a new member but stumbled onto this forum after being diagnosed 4-5 months ago with peyronie's. I live in MD and am trying to find a doctor that will prescribe me Pentox. Here's a breif over view of my story.

I woke up to have a lump right under the head of my penis the first tuesday of September. I imediatly went to my GP he examined me and told me to wait a week and if it was still there he would refer me to a uro. Well it was still there a week later and I went and saw uro he said he thought it was peyronie's and to wait two months and come back. I did that and he ended up putting me on Potaba, which I have been on for two months. He told me also that I should probably go see a peyronie's specialist as he isn't well versed with peyronie's. I then went to John Hopkins and saw a peyronie's specialist by the name of Burnett who bascially told me he's sorry but there's nothing we can do. I asked him about effectiveness of Potaba and Pentox and anything else that might help. His response was there's nothing we can do I won't prescribe you any medicine because none have been proven to be successful. This disappointed me, so I asked the euro I saw before if he would prescribe me pentox and he said he's never dealt with it and doesn't feel comfortable prescribing it having never done so. I told him about this forum and the studies and how Dr Lue uses it he was familiar with him but still wouldn't prescribe it to me. I don't have any bending but just hour glassing near the upper right side of my penis. It hurts all the time, and even if the meds aren't 100% I want to try them. I'm currently taking the following:

Potoaba 24 pills a day
CoQ10 2 400mg pills a day
Neprinol 3 pills 3x a day
MSM 1 pill 3x a day
Omega 3 once a day

I was hoping to add or replace Potaba with the Pentox, but need to find a doctor that will prescribe it to me so I figured maybe someone knows a doctor in md that will prescribe it for me. I tried ordering it from one of the links posted in one of the topics on here but never recieved my shipment I believe it was mexmeds and they never returned my calls or emails either. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our elite little group here.  Hopefully someone will respond with a suggestion.  You might also post this same question under the "Urologists and Other Doctors" topic.  That is usually the best place around here to find a doctor.  - George

I searched this forum and the net as well and found what I thought were the best articles relative to Peyronies Disease, pentox, and my personal medical history.  I took the documentation to my family physician and he wrote the script.

Do whatever it takes to acquire whatever treatment you think is best for you. Doing nothing is the sure way to go untreated.  Also keep searching this forum because, in my opinion, what you will find available here is more knowledge and expertise than any one physician has about Peyronies Disease.

Good luck

Hello rd

Sorry to hear you are having problems finding a doctor or urologist to work with you. This seems to be a common problem we suffers of Peyronie's have. I have an appointment with a urologist here in Washington state who I know prescribes pentox. I have been puchasimg cialis and pentox ( trental) from a Canadian company called riverpharmacy starting at June of last year. They have sent me three shipments they take about 8 days to arrive it took two weeks though when I ordered in December. They ship from India there you do not need a prescription so it is not a problem. How ever you can only order a certain amount because customs opens at a certain weight.
I ordered 360 pentox tabs at 400 mg also some cialis.I trust them, they even send you and E-mail mail when it arrives at your post office.Their web address is riverpharmacy.CA it use to be a .com.

Be sure to spend time reading the forum and the different boards their is a treasure of information here.George 999 , oldman, Tim 468 and many other veterans of this forum are a good source read their post and become informed.Print out the case studies of pentox and co q10 and what ever you need to s their decision in your favor.

The medicine I have purchased from this company definately works or I would not keep ordering.

Thank's for the replies. I found on this forum after posting alldaychemist which I placed a order for pentox through. It wasn't very expensive either. I tried riverpharmacy but I could never get into there site always said it couldn't load the page. One other question is, I'm currently taking potaba and ordered the pentox, could these be taken together? I figure if both have some success as small as it maybe why not try both and give yourself a better chance. I appreciate all the feed back and have been reading through the forum and appreciate all the knowledge you all share. Oh and sorry about the posting in the wrong area, wasn't sure where I should post this message.

sgtnick

When ordering meds from Canada, how is the the currency conversion rate calculated?

sgtnick

RD,

When "combining" meds, you should always ask a doctor or pharmacist.  Others may offer different opinions, however, some of this stuff can be tricky.

George999

I agree with Nick on this.  I assume you are getting Potaba from a local pharmacist.  If I were you I would ask the pharmacist directly if there would be any conflict between Potaba and Pentoxifylline.  The pharmacist can give you an authoritative answer to this question very likely right off the top of their head since they deal with these questions day in and day out.  Personally, I would prefer a pharmacists answer to that of a physician.  Pharmacists tend to be the pros when it comes to drug interactions and side effects.  - George

There seems to be a Pentox shortage from the supplier. I'm in Canada, don't know how it effects the rest of the world. I wonder what caused this as the Pharmasist I talked to didn't have a reason to give me but said it's not being discontinued. So you all might want to stock up or be prepared. Imagine they discontinued this for some reason and this is the warning sign...
Cheers

George999

It is beyond imagining that they would discontinue it after all these years.  There has to be a very thin market for it.  I'm wondering what with it being more widely used for the treatment of Peyronie's, if the few manufacturers like Teva are having a difficult time keeping up?  - George

I just ordered a 90 day supply (270 pills) from healthwarehouse.com for $79.50 delivered.  Paid cash as it was cheaper than my insurance co-pay.  Go figure.  They are made by Teva.  Terrific customer service.  You need a real doctor's prescription as this is not a fly by night online pharmacy.  They don't prescribe over the phone - they are just a pharmacy.  I recommend them.

newguy

Hopefully the shortage is temporary and limited to one supplier. As is said bwlow, maybe the demand has picked up a bit. I can't for one moment think that they would discontinue it.

hornman

Just curious skunkworks.  Have you ever taken fake Pentox?
I got mine from RiverPharmacy.  I hope its real.

I refilled a prescription today, no problem.  My prescription is for a month (3 pills daily).

I'm sure if there is any increased demand for pentox then the pentox manufacturers are more than economically motivated to supply that demand.

Yeah Im from canada and keep waiting for them to bring in shipments. I just keep going around and getting like a month supply 2 weeks supply whatever I can get lol. The pharmacy sais they hope they dont discontinue this when I asked her if there is going to be a discontinue.

newguy

I dug around a bit and pentox has made it onto this shortage list: http://www.ashp.org/DrugShortages/Current/  It's a temporary issue though, due to one supplier discontinuing. Several still supply the drug though, and I've had no trouble ordering it myself.

George999

Thanks Newguy for that information.  It explains a lot.  But actually this involves two US pharmaceutical companies.  According to your link, Major Pharmaceuticals in Michigan has indeed discontinued production of Pentoxifylline.  But ADDITIONALLY during the same period of time, Apotex Pharmaceuticals in Florida was shut down by the US Food and Drug Admistration, apparently due to quality control issues, but is now back up and running again.  Four other pharmaceutical companies have Pentoxifylline available to ship.  Thus the "shortage" likely has to do with individual pharmacies "discovering" new suppliers for the drug after customarily buying it from one of the above two, or in the case of Apotex, waiting for them to begin shipping again.  - George

Noway

I called my pharmacy and ordered a 3 month supply of pentox and got it will be getting it in 2 days.

Where can I get it online? Because, I went to my uroligist and even showed him a picture of my bend, (which can be very dramatic sometimes when about 50% erect, like 25 degrees) (slately all of my erections, when full, have developed a 5 degree bend to the right too, and I can feel a pull on that side). However, regardless of the photo, of both my erection (with the slight new bend), and being half erect (when the bend is most prominent), he refuses to prescribe me anything, and says that because he cannot feel anything and because my doppler came up fine, that it is impossible that I have the disease. F~@< that though. It is very clear that I have it, it is just that the plaque isnt easily detectable....

I went to another urologist and the same story....

So I neeeeeeed to jump on this and NOW. I am looking to get into a whole protocol ESPECIALLY including ubiquinol and pentox, but  I cant get a prescription.... So I have no choice but to get it through an online source guys. So where in the hell can I get this stuff from? Where have you guys gotten it or do you know of/have used anywhere online to get it?

Noway

You need to go see a peyronies disease specialist try to find one.

Noway

I got my 3 months of pentox today.

Noway

find a peyronies disease specialist normal urologists dont know what there doing when it comes to peyronies disease.

quickguide90012

Hey guys.  My general doctor tells me he can't prescribe me Pentox because he not a specialist.  I'm not sure when i can see my urologist yet because it takes time to make an appointment.

I read that some of you guys can buy Pentox online as oppose to get it prescribed.  Can you guys tell me what site you buy it from?  I read someone mentioned alldaychemist?  I asked Old Man about this and he says to ask this on the forum because he got his pentox from his doctor.

I also want to know, is the pentox that is bought online lesser quality than the one that is prescribed?  It should still have the same effects right?

Thanks.

quickguide90012

I see it on alldaychemist.com and its very cheap.  They call it pentox (Trental)

It's  $2.22 for 15 pills but i'm not sure if those are effective like the ones that are prescribed by a urologist.  There was one member who posted he bought it from alldaychemist and said its genuine.

And if i buy it from alldaychemist, how many packs should i buy?  Many mention that you take 3 per day so thus this 15 pills would be 5 days.  Should i buy 6 packs, thus 90 pills then per month?  I see its 100mg.

But is the one prescribed much stronger/different/effective than the ones that is bought online?

I'm pretty sure i'm going to have a very tough time getting a urologist to prescribe me this since many people say most don't.  And even if i get to see a peyronie's doctor, it would take at least 1-2 months before i see him and if he would prescribe it.

George999

Quick,  As far as I know, you have not even gotten a confirmed diagnoses of Peyronie's yet.  You REALLY need to get that BEFORE you start on something like Pentoxifylline.  Go ahead and start with the ALC and CoQ10, those are fine.  But DON'T start taking a prescription drug until a DOCTOR tells you that you DO HAVE Peyronie's.  - George

LWillisjr

George,
I agree he hasn't been diagnosed, but he states he does have some pain. While I don't think this directly implies Peyronies Disease, I wonder if the Pentox could help with the pain/blood flow. I don't think Pentox is solely for Peyronies Disease sufferers.

Les,  I simply think we need to not throw caution to the wind when it comes to taking prescription meds.  Granted Pentox IS pretty benign, but I really think he needs a diagnoses FIRST, since who know what it might be going on and Murphy's Law can work in nasty ways when it comes to prescription meds.  I admit that I am overly cautious on these things.  I think that Ubiquinol is much safer and can likely be as helpful at this point as Pentoxifylline.  - George

Fraudulent charges showed up on my debit card this week. I rarely order online, but from looking at the alldaychemist facebook page, it appears that thre's a chance that they are linked to this:

http://www.facebook.com/alldaychemist2

If you order from them, be sure to use a prepaid credit card, or at least some form of payment where you can be reimbursed in a worst case scenario. I have absolutely no issue with their medications, but the security side of things is worrying me a little. The only thing I can say in their favour regarding this situation, is that they've left up all of the negative feedback on their facebook page and appear to be trying to do something about this.

ComeBacKid

Guys,

I think the problem is most urologists won't work with the patient, even when I took in studies and reports, most think they know it all, or won't listen.  Its hard to diagnose anything when people don't listen to you, or are just ignorant.  In a perfect world we could get lots of tests done, diagnose problems effectively, have doctors listen to us and give us a workout schedule, meal schedule etc, but the real world doesn't work like that.  I think taking pentox won't hurt this guy if he has no health problems, do what you have to, to get the damn drug and try it.  It worked really well for me, after years of nothing but vitamin E and urologists who didn't listen to me.

Newguy,

What country is the company located in, yours?  I buy stuff online a lot, I have a credit union, and a credit card through them.  I would not recomend EVER using your DEBIT card when making an online purchase, as this will come through as a direct pull from your checking account, or be like a check card purchase on hold.  Use a CREDIT card, with VISA, if it is lost, stolen, or there is fraud your only liable for the first $50, this is a way to protect yourself online.  I got overcharged once by a company, I contacted my credit union and they called the people and got me on the phone and got it straightened out, it was an error by the company, and they sent me free supplies for what I was purchasing.

First you need to contact the seller or merchant directly, at least in the USA, then if that doesn't work notify your bank or credit union right away, don't wait.  They will get involved and know what to do.  I don't know the laws abroad, in the USA you have certain rights to dispute a credit card charge, but if your dispute is just poor quality products I don't know if you will win or not.  If your dispute is over billing, thats fraud to me and you should be able to stop that and win.

Thanks for the reply, ComebacKid. I don't have an awful lots of funds in that particular account, so it wasn't a huge concern. Also, my bank are refunding the two small transactions that did occur, and stopped all of those that followed. Maybe they are set up slighly differently in the UK, as the banks keep an eye out for unusual transactions (from overseas for instance, or ones that fit the hallmarks of fraud) sometimes rejecting them until approval is granted. It's a bit hit and miss though, so I agree that it probably wasn't the wisest move on my part and on another occasion I could've seriously lost out.

I've already resolved the issue as I rang my bank. They immediately discontinued my card and are sending a new one, which I will be very careful with. I very rarely used the previous one online, which is why I think I know the source of this problem. Thanks for your concern!

George999

I agree with ComeBack on this one.  For any sort of online transaction credit cards are better.  When you use a credit card it gets processed via a truly international organization these days.  There is enough delay between the time the purchase gets posted to your account and the time the vendor actually gets paid so that just about any transaction can be stopped if you are vigilant.  With a debit card funds transfer immediately unless the bank catches the fraud.  There are PLENTY of horror stories in this regard concerning debit cards.  - George

Yes, I agree George. I was reading up on this and some people have lost serious amounts of money. It's quite shocking.
