How long to stay on CoQ10?

Hi all,

I posted an introduction back in October 2017. I'm a 33yo with Peyronies and two different urologists have confirmed the presence of two plaques on the dorsal region of the penis. They are felt on the top, about an inch from the base. I've experimented with CoQ10 400mg at the recommendation of someone on this board. I feel the coQ10 has had a positive impact but I'm wondering what direction to go at this point. I've probably taken about an 8 months supply over the course of past 13 months. While it seems to have helped with pain, there is still some minor discomfort with erection that really depends on the day. I also had an indentation which has improved.

For anyone who's been on this supplement, do you recommend I keep taking it even if I still experience minor discomfort after all this time? I believe the plaque size is about the same, but there's no way to tell without another ultrasound. Should I continue up until the 18 month mark when the disease is said to stabilize? Or would it be safe to stop now and let my body do the rest of the work?

The plaque can be reassorbed with the appropriate therapy ( but not totally heal the fibrosis, the damage is done) . It required years , not months to see this improvement.
I would add pentox as well. Have a doctor prescribe it.

I'd def consider adding pentox, low dose tadalafil daily, VED, traction etc to see progress in hopefully 6-12 months

Your question was how long to stay on CoQ10
I didn't find on the web any indication that it have some time limits regarding how long you should take it:

One paper on rats showed withdrawal symptoms in their hearts for a while after stopping. I also had withdrawal and my insulin resistance got severe for a while once quitting. Humans DO have lower levels once stopping for a week or so. Though I would not worry too much. Long term seems fine even for years for humans.

However, be aware that CoQ10 is made naturally through beta-oxidation (your body and mitochondria's ability to use fats). Damaged mitochondrial pools such as in heart or penile cells cannot perform b-oxidation well as they have been damaged and mutated by glucose. Fasting or eating only fats will cause you to have more mitochondria and their mutated DNA will be repaired. In a person who is not fat adapted, b-oxidation is down as well as CoQ10 production.

CoQ10 is made by the body, and when glucose is always present, it is not produced as much. Diabetics naturally have lower CoQ10, and tend to get Peyronie's. Statins lower cholesterol, the main transporter of CoQ10 and a KEY enzyme required to produce it, also causing Peyronie's.

Thanks everyone for your input. It's sounding like I should continue the coq10 beyond the 8 months that I've already taken it. I'm really not too concerned about the state of my Peyronie at this point as there's no visible bending and the pain is usually tolerable with erection. If I stopped the coQ10 and knew I wouldn't get worse, I would be ok with that...but I guess it's better to be safe and just continue with it for now.

Pressure

I've been taking CoQ10 constantly for 3 years, 4 months now. Orginally at 400mg a day, now at 300mg a day, may reduce down to 200mg a day at one point in a few months.

What do you think people?
Age early thirties, peyronies 4.5 years

CoQ10 is highly recommended on an ongoing basis for heart health, esp if one is on statins.
