Daily Transdermals and Traction/VED solved my Peyronies Disease https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,12587.0.html (DMSO+X)

My father had Peyronies and I have Peyronies.
This what I think is genetics.
I suppose my son will have also :(

If every eleventh guy has peyronie's (i don't think it's that much), the father of every eleventh guy with peyronie's has it too. Considering this, talking about genetic factors is BS.

I really don't understand what you are doing on this forum, and I am not the only one wandering about.
208 posts, not even one positive or agree on something with somebody.
Contradicting everything without any scientific backing, just your theories? Strange.

damian,
I don't know that anyone ever said that Peyronies is genetic. But being prone to fibrosis is genetically possible. So just because one's dad has Peyronies, doesn't for sure mean one's son will get it. There are many men who could be susceptible to fibrosis, but they don't all get Peyronies.

My father and both my sisters all have dupterens. I haven't asked my father if he has peyronie's because he isn't the sort of guy that finds discussing such matters with family comfortable, but i wouldn't be surprised if he does have it. I've also had surgery for fibrosis issues elsewhere in my body, and the osteo consultant I see told me that such issues very commonly run in families.
I guess at some point I will have to discuss the issue with my son, when he is old enough to understand. He has the right to know of the possible problems he may experience, so that he can take preventative measures.

i have dupytrens on many fingers, ledderhose to both feet and now peyronies, obviously these condtions have connections. my grandfather had dupytrens but my brother does not suffer any of these afflictions. guess this inherited predisposition jumps around so hopefully your son will be fine.

Genetics only means that you are predisposed to getting something if all the conditions are right. It does not mean that you WILL get it. There is a difference.

I talked about this at my last visit with my specialist. I told him how confused I am to get this at age 27 and that I can't really think of any occasion where I might have injured myself and I don't have any comorbidities and no man in my family of the past 2 generations has it. And his reply was simply that it very often is not an injury according to his experience of 30 years and according to his own research it is also not an autoimmune disorder (he mentioned some test he did on patients in a study that I can't remember). His opinion is that Peyronies occurs "idiopathically" in some patients and there is no clear way to identify a cause, be it genetic or otherwise.
I would NOT tell my son about MY Peyronies disease. I would just advice him that in general he should be careful during sex, because mild injury can have severe consequences in any man and that he should go to a _specialist_ immediately if there is pain in that area or other unusual stuff occuring.

emasculated,
Do you have a son?

I told my son not because he might get this, but simply out of education. I couldn't believe I had never heard of this condition or disease until I was 50 years of age.

We owe it to our sons to simply educate them and is not bases on whether they will or will not get this.

My theory is based on simple statistics. Telling your son to be careful can't be wrong, but open a thread to talk about not proven theories by some of our "star" doctors, who are all insecure when it comes to peyronie's, and who like to talk anything just to keep the mass amused and busy. Talking one day that every 10th guy has it, and then the other day that it has something to do with our genes is very contradicting. James, I just can't aggree with someone who let strangers stick needles in his penis.

You just can't agree with nobody on nothing, yes? :)
I just know that my father had it and I have it. Coincidence? Maybe.
By the way, did you read all the posts on this topic to understand what other people opinion, or just jumping in not to agree with nothing.
Also the issue of the needles don't belongs to this topic. See the topic title.

Head Up

This post has nothing to do with talking to sons about Peyronies Disease. Just wanted to add that I found out my brother has Peyronies Disease as well. Pretty sure my dad has it too but not 100%. Anyway, my brother was diagnosed when he was 33-34yo. My onset with Peyronies Disease occurred at 31yo. Coincidence, I think not. Just wanted to share the genetic link.

james1947

Thanks for the post Head Up.
Personally, I am sure is genetic.
But of course, I don't have any double blind trials and researches on the subject.
