Shaving before surgery

Im booked in for surgery in a weeks time, for Nesbit procedure  to correct a 70degree bend, my question, i have been given antiseptic soap to use the night before, do i need to shave the base of my Penis or my nuts?

I shaved everything, then they told me this is not enough and shaved at the hospital also a bit on my legs and butt.
Well, I had STAGE surgery but should be not much different.

I was told not to, as they don't want you to risk a cut and be at risk of infection. Maybe trim the hairs if you like, but leave the shaving to them.
