Greetings,

Let me start off by saying thank you for taking the time to read and answer my questions.  First off, I'm 40 years old from Canada.  I have been Diabetic for most my life.  My curvature is around 30 to 35 degrees and makes it difficult for me to be intimate with my wife.  For the last 18 months I went to a urologist here and decided after months of thinking it over to go ahead and have the plication surgery.

My questions are the following...

1)  Did surgery improve the curvature?

2)  Were you nervous before and leading up to the surgery?

3)  How did you feel the day and following day after surgery?

4)  Do any of you have Diabetes or had any complications due to having Diabetes?

I appreciate all the feedback.

Hello,

Has this curvartura been measured in erection?
Is it ready to lose something of size with the intervention?
How many operations has its doctor realized?

These three questions are important that one raises them.

Hi all,

Just an update.  I had my plication or Nesbitt procedure done today.  Only issue I ran into was urinating.   Curvature was not 30 degrees but rather 50 degrees when  the urologist created an artificial erection.  Now my wife is driving me home.

1)  Did surgery improve the curvature?
Yes. But only after the second surgery, my first one was a failure. The second was also not perfect cause of one of the permanent stutures (stitches?) dropped of after the first 4 weeks.
However, my curvature is very much improved. I was at 90 degrees before, now probably 20-30.

2)  Were you nervous before and leading up to the surgery?
No. Just wanted to get over with it.

3)  How did you feel the day and following day after surgery?
Fine. The pain for me really didnt start until after 3-4 days when the healing started.
I got powerful painkillers that helped a lot but you will wake up at night with very painful erections.

4)  Do any of you have Diabetes or had any complications due to having Diabetes?
no.

I appreciate all the feedback.

Just an update since my surgery or Day 2.

Bandage was nice and snug.  I had some issues of urinating with a slight burning sensation.  The most pain I found was overnight.  I must have had an erection because I woke up in pain like I never felt before.

On Day 3, the bandage came off last night and it hurt.  Even running the shower head to create some moisture made it difficult to unravel.  After looking at the dry blood on the bandage, I started to bleed again with my stitches are.  Is that normal to bleed at the site when taking off the bandage?  Anyhow, I went ahead and applied pressure to the site with gauze to absorb some of the blood.  After 5 minutes, I applied Polysporin and kept loose gauze in case it continued to bleed.

This morning on Day 4, the site has nicely healed.  Lots of colour around the scrotum and the head of the penis.  Stitches around the circumcision site is very sore and anything that pushes up again my groin hurts.

i had some bleeding the first 2 weeks. shouldn't be a problem.
Especially when the stitches started to dissolve and the wound "opened up" a bit.

You should be keeping it dry, don't use a shower head as you don't want infection.

jsinger21

I only got the bandage wet earlier to make it easier to remove.  The next time I shower, I'll let the water flow off my chest and not apply water directly to my penis where the stitches are.  There is minimal blood but I keep applying Polysporin 2 x daily.

Have you replaced the bandages as you should be keeping it wrapped to help with the healing.
Just remember not to wrap to tight to stop blood flow to the head.

Think you need to keep it wrapped for the first week or two but check with your doc.

Hi Redbullmaster,

Since removing the tight bandage after 2 days from surgery, what I have done is the following.  I've placed Polysporin twice daily; usually when I wake up and before bed.  I apply 2 sheets of gauze like a sandwich.  I do not wrap it like it was before and let the Polysporin act as a layer of glue.  There is a small amount of dry blood each day I change the gauze.  Very small compared to the original bandage.  The area around the circumcision scar is puffy and red.  Sensitive to the touch when I apply Polysporin.

Last night wasn't too unbearable with pain but still took a pain medicine.  During the day it is manageable without a pill.

Right, you need to stretch it slightly with bandaging each day to help with it healing straight.
I'm about to go to work, so I post in more detail later

jsinger21

Hi Redbullmaster,

Stretch it?  Really?  Right now I see redness and puffiness from the stitches.  How do I stretch and what will that do to the site?  I appreciate your feedback.

redbullmaster

This is what I was told when I had the stage surgery, which is you hold the head and pull the penis out and then bandage it.

Obviously you don't need to pull it out to full erection length, bandage it tight but not too tight to stop the blood flow to the head ether.

But this is suppose to help with the healing process and stop scar tissue reforming.
Which should help the penis heal nice and straight, also the bandages should protect your penis from knocks or bangs in day today living.

Also stretching the penis on week two is also recommended.
which is to pull it out in front of you and hold for up to 10 sec's, several times a day.

I'm not a qualified doctor, so if in doubt check with your surgeon.

Hi there,

I'm not seeing my urologist for a month.  The only instructions I was told was to be gentle and apply Polysporin for a week.  No heavy lifting or perform any sex or masturbation for at least 6 weeks.  I'm at a crossroad and didn't come across anything online or this forum for any sort of exercises or anything preventative.

redbullmaster

Hi just trying to find my original notes, every doc seems to have there own way.

But it makes sense not to let the penis heal scrunched up, so the scare from the surgery doesn't cause more curvature.

Hopefully some other men can chime in on what they were told to do in recovery.

Hello,

Just an update.  The last 2 nights I was woken up by painful erections.  No my urologist didn't prescribe any anti erection medication.  I'm assuming based on what I read that is a good sign but I have to deal with the pain itself.   Is there any real physical damage having erections during the night while I have stitches?

LWillisjr

Depending on what procedure you had, I would be hesitant to do any stretching yet. My doctor had me wait until after my 6 week post op check up before he had me to start stretching.

Hi there,

The only stretching I'm getting are erections and they hurt still.  Worst at night.  I stopped taking strong pain medications during the day and night.  Nights are uncomfortable but more manageable post 1 week surgery.  I can't tell if any stitches came out but bruising is slowly receding.  I'm still getting minor amounts of blood every day and night when I change the gauze and apply Polysporin.

Results are looking very promising.  I took a quick glance and notice my erections are straight.  Keep in mind I wasn't focused too much on the size but rather the curvature.

Just a quick update...  I notice after 2.5 weeks post surgery that my penis is starting to curve maybe 15 to 20 degrees to the left.  Is that normal?  Should I be concerned?  Can anything be done at this point?

You should see your doctor as soon as you can and talk with him about your concerns.
